A Date in Middle Earth to Look Forward Too!

So now we all finally have a date to look forward to for the The Hobbit, the highly anticipated sequel (DUH!) to The Lord of the Rings trilogy! Ever since I heard that Guillermo del Toro had been chosen as the director for this 2 part film I have been almost more almost more excited about it it than I was originally about Peter Jackson! Originally the Hobbit was supposed to hit theaters in 2011 but now the new word is that we’re looking at a December 2012 release date. That’s a LONG time to wait isn’t it? What gives? And how come we still have no one attached to play Bilbo Baggins yet??!

At least we know that Ian Mckellan will be reprising his role as Gandalf and rumours are suggesting that filming will begin in June. I don’t want to the rush the guys but it’s going to be a long two years!! Nothing though compared to the amount of time Peter Jackson took to make The Lord of the Rings. With both Jackson and del Toro together behind these two films it’s bound to be worth the wait!

Ok so I know I have posted this song like at least three other times here but any chance I get you can bet I’ll take it!

Hysterical Psycho – The Best Horror Comedy Since Evil Dead 2?!!

I have been hearing alot of horror hype lately around a new indie horror flick called Hysterical Psycho directed by funny guy Dan Fogler. You may already know Fogler from his roles in Fanboys or Balls of Fury. Well now he’s in the director’s seat with what many horror sites are saying is the best horror comedy since Evil Dead 2. I just read about it again on Bloody Digusting and they too are giving it rave reviews.

 From what I can tell it sounds like a pretty run of the mill Slasher Flick in premise at least taking place at a creepy motel where a hysterical psycho resides. Not sure what all the hype is really about but I checked out the trailer and it looks as if it could indeed be alot of fun!  Believe me I live for a good horror comedy but the best horror comedy since Evil Dead 2? Probably not…

1979: The Year of the BEST action Figure EVER!

These new developments of the Alien prequel have gotten me so excited I began to have visions of an action figure only a couple lucky friends of mine had back in the day. Yes this was the 1979 Alien action figure! They actually made action figures for kids back in the 70’s for movies that were rated R!

You couldn’t go see the movie but you could make your Alien action figure feast on Barbie or Ken seven days a week!! Continue reading →

Woody Harrelson in KICK ASS?!

Last night I went to the video store to find a movie to totally just chill out to as I was super tired from staying out way too late the other evening and winding up eating Taco Bell at 3 am. Yes as it always ends up being, you realiz the only reason you even considered it was because you were wasted and the late night T-Bell turned out to be quite a mistake the next morning. But enough about that!

Anyway upon browsing the new release shelves I ran into a movie that looked quite interesting. Normally it seems I’ve got a pretty good handle on all the upcoming super hero type flicks but it seems that this one  must have just slipped beneath my nerd radar. Continue reading →

Ridley Scott speaks on the Alien prequel!

So obviously I am completely pumped on the Alien prequel that Ridley Scott has in the works! I mean the original director doing the prequel to one of the best Sci Fi films ever in this day and age?? I really never thought it would happen. Now we can really get back to business with not only the Predator but now the Alien as well. I know I could get alot of shit for this but I actually enjoyed the AVP movies! But now I also liked Freddy Vs. Jason too! Yeah just some dumb fun really that some people took just too damn seriously! Anyway having Ridley back leading the franchise in the right direction again has had alot of people wondering some of the secrets of the new upcoming movie.

Kick-Ass Kicks Some Ass But Still Not Enough….

The last week I have been on an epic cross country road trip with a good friend of mine so I haven’t been able to hit the bloggin’ at all. But now having arrived safely at home in Portland Oregon this weekend there was really only one last thing I needed to get accomplished. Go see Kick -Ass! Yeah I have been covering the movies developments pretty heavily here since the comic book has been one of my favs for quite some time. So the wait was finally over and I walked into the theaters with my fingers crossed.

Did the movie deliver? Well sorta if you’d never read the comic book. In fact if you have never read the comic book this may be one of the best “superhero” comic book movies you’ll ever see. Continue reading →

Fright Night remake casting….yawn….

Ok so pretty much every damn movie you can think of is being remade! Seriously think of your fav movie in whatever genre and do a google search I bet that shit is getting remade or in the talks of being remade this very second! So naturally I was not surprised that Fright Night was announced as  being remade a while back. Really, Fright Night, aside from The Lost Boys is probably the best vampire flick of the 80’s! Even part two is pretty good. So now especially with the super shitty Twilight series getting all the hype and melting the populations brains into the size of rat turds it seems EVERYONE is trying to do a damn vampire movie! So now we’ve gotta sit through all these “sexy”, “erotic” and “mysterious” vampire movies and their ultra dull characters again!!! I get to see one of my fav vampire films get remade….oh the joy of Hollywood.

Toxie Goes Soft On Us…

Remakes, remakes, remakes they just don’t stop! Now word on the street is that they’ll most likely be screwing up the Toxic Avenger!! Geez-what next huh?? Apparently they want to turn the new movies into a family friendly franchise. So really just taking away all that made Toxie cool in the first place! Deadline New York reported that they intend to “turn Toxie into a green superhero for these environmentally conscious times”.

They are making compairisons to “The Mask” and what I’m seeing is a steaming pile of shit! Continue reading →

A Gossipy Bucky Cast In the Cap Film….

It seems the cast of Captain America is really coming together now. So so much so that just yesterday it was annouced that Gossip Girl’s Sebastian Stan will be playing  Cap’s legendary sidekick Bucky. I really wanted to touch on this yesterday but alas I worked all day then headed off to our epic official Bad Movie Night which was a blast! Anyway I guess Stan’s signed on for several movies and personally I think that can only really mean one thing, The Winter Soldier will most likely make an appearance in the upcoming Cap movies. Hey you’ve got to admit that’d make a dynamic movie! Heck Sebastian Stan could eventually become Cap himslef too as Bucky did in the comics.

I really honestly have no opinion on this move to cast him as I have never seen anything that he’s starred in! I know that he was in a supposedly awful movie called The Covenant and that he starred in some movie that Fred “Limp Bizkit” Durst dierected that I can only imagine must suck? I guess it is my responsibility to actually go check him out in some of these movies and decide for myself. Looks wise we seems fine as Bucky.

 I also hear that he’s in Hot Tub Time Machine as well which I also have not seen. Geez what a help I am here on this one huh? Either way I’m sure he’s right on par with Chris Evans as Cap. I at the very least am happy we didn’t have to wait out  the casting of Bucky too!!
