1977 Was a Good Year for Trolls and Monsters!

Hey there! So I am finally back on the blog after a little hiatus without any internet access for about a week-but never fear you can listen to my incoherent babbling consistantly once again! Anyway I just had to blog about one of my favorite books EVER as a child. It was simply titled “Favorite Tales of Monsters and Trolls” and it came out in 1977 by Random House. Let me tell you, as a kid you couldn’t pry this particular book out of my hands with a crowbar and a stick of dynamite!! Yeah the book is that cool! So first off any older dorks out there with kids need to hunt this down and read this book to your kids before bed. I am sure you can find it on ebay or I know for a fact they have a few copies for sale on Amazon.

Anyway I must say first off that this book  has some of the coolest most beautiful artwork ever seen in a childrens book and some of the best images of trolls you are ever likely to see. The artist John O’brien beautifully illustrates this book with incredible detail. Everytime you look at a picture you’ll notice something new. Continue reading

James Cameron on the Fantastic Voyage??

Ok first off I wanna say I’m sorry for the lull in the blogs for the past few days but I am temporarily out of internet service which can make blogging a bit difficult! Hopefully this will be resolved by the weekend but for the moment I am catching a wireless signal on my roomie’s laptop! So I figured I should at least put up a quick blog!

Anyway it’s news to me but today I found out that there is indeed going to be a remake of one of my all time fav sci fi movies: Fantastic Voyage! If you have yet to see the original you best rent that as soon as possible as it is truly fantastic. The 1966 movie is pretty amazing as a submarine and it’s crew are shrunk down and injected in to the body of a dying man racing against time to repair a blood clot in his brain. The only problem is after an hour inside the body it’s immune system will be able to detect them. Now imagine this movie made in 1966-no cg. You might think it’d be a simply ridiculous looking movie. Not the case, for it’s time and even now I’d say the movie still has some great visuals and a helluva alot of charm. Continue reading

Marilyn Manson on LOST!

So here we are just one episode away from the grand finale of LOST!! I never thought we’d ever be this close to the end of the series. It’s been a good run so far this season but I’m seriously hoping that the ending is seriously epic and that it will be something we will be talking about for months. It’s going to be sad to say goodbye to all of the crew, Hurley, Jack (whom I have grown to love), Sawyer, Kate, Jin, Sun and most of all Locke! I have said it for a long time, ever since the beginning actually that Locke was the most important and intriguing character on the entire show. But now we all wonder how long Locke has been the real Locke, if the real Locke will indeed return and most of all his significance to the entire show. Anyway I today just ran across a picture painted of Locke by none other than everybody’s fav shock rocker Marilyn Manson. Now I’m not a huge fan of Manson’s music but I have always found him to be quite interesting to say the least. Who would have thought he too was such a big LOST fan and even more so loved Locke so much that he painted a portrait of him!!

Let the Right One In Remake Pics!

So today via Moviehole I finally saw some stills from the upcoming remake of Let The Right One In, quite possibly one of greatest most unique vampire movies ever made. I have been severely skeptical about this particular remake now entitled “Let Me In” because simply the original is flawless. I only hope that this new American version ends up like “The Ring” remake which actually improved upon the original. The only thing now that this remake has going for it is Kick-Ass’ Chloe Mortez starring in it as the young vampiric Eli . I’ve got my fingers crossed!

Arnim Zola Revealed in Upcoming Cap Movie!!

Ok first off sorry if it suddenly seems as if I have been slackin’ on the blogging lately! I have been working like crazy ever since I got back from my cross country road trip! So anyway I just found out about this today so pardon me if for some reason this is old news to you. It seems that there has been a new villain announced for the new  upcoming Captain America movie, Arnim Zola!!!

I will say this is fantastic news as I wasn’t sure if it’d only be the Red Skull cap was up against. So today I find out that little guy Toby Jones (Infamous, Harry Potter) will be portraying the legenday villain! Continue reading

The Dark Crystal 2 goes Undead!!!

It has been quite a while since I have heard anything at all about the Dark Crystal 2, “The Power of the Dark Crystal” and I actually thought it wasn’t going to ever see the light of day. It seems however the Dark Crystal 2 is happening after all with some most interesting recent news and development on the highly anticipated yet feared sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter The Jim Henson Company is to partner with Australian production outfit Omnilab Media to make “Power of the Dark Crystal”. Continue reading

New JAWS in the Water! Piranha Trailer hits!

I have been waiting sometime for the Alex Aja’s remake of Piranha and now the trailer has finally officially hit! One reason why I have been so pumped is because it seems Mr. Aja has made some pretty excellent horror films in his short career. The first being “High Tension” which was pretty awesome, The Hills Have Eyes remake which was also great and the not so fantastic Mirrors starring Kiefer Sutherland. Hey two out of three ain’t bad!

Anyway I know that 3-D movies now a days are a dime a dozen these days Continue reading

The Mighty Thor Finally Revealed!

So here we go finally! A first glimpse at the Chris Hemsworth Thor this evening! What did you think? Do you think this is going to be the next Iron Man?? So far so good I say! It’s got a little of the old Thor and a bit of the Ultimates Thor. I personally thought they were going to go all the way with portraying him as the Ultimates version but this first pic proved they’ve left a little something for the die hard fans. I know in this pic the legendary helmet and Mjolnir (his mighty hammer) is missing but who knows he may have just stepped out of the shower! Either way this is good news as it takes us one step closer to The Avengers movie! What do you think?

A Date in Middle Earth to Look Forward Too!

So now we all finally have a date to look forward to for the The Hobbit, the highly anticipated sequel (DUH!) to The Lord of the Rings trilogy! Ever since I heard that Guillermo del Toro had been chosen as the director for this 2 part film I have been almost more almost more excited about it it than I was originally about Peter Jackson! Originally the Hobbit was supposed to hit theaters in 2011 but now the new word is that we’re looking at a December 2012 release date. That’s a LONG time to wait isn’t it? What gives? And how come we still have no one attached to play Bilbo Baggins yet??!

At least we know that Ian Mckellan will be reprising his role as Gandalf and rumours are suggesting that filming will begin in June. I don’t want to the rush the guys but it’s going to be a long two years!! Nothing though compared to the amount of time Peter Jackson took to make The Lord of the Rings. With both Jackson and del Toro together behind these two films it’s bound to be worth the wait!

Ok so I know I have posted this song like at least three other times here but any chance I get you can bet I’ll take it!
