Let’s Get Ready To Rumble! Cartoon Style!! Part 1!
So as a kid and even now as an adult I must admit I am pretty entranced by a good cartoon brawl! So I decided to start a little addition here at Universal Dork where I compile some good cartoon fights! Super heroes, Smurfs, Bugs Bunny Whatever! I just wanna see some good cartoon whoop-ass!! Here it is, the first installment of Epic Cartoon Fights!!!
So naturally I will start with one of the MOST epic battles in cartoon history Optimus Prime Vs. Megatron from the Transformers animated movie! You just know by the music it’s gonna be good! It doesn’t get much better than this but unfortunately this battle saw the end of Optimus as we knew him….
Impossibly Stupid Dialogue With The Impossible Man!!
Ok I admit it I just can’t seem to get enough of these 70’s Fantastic Four cartoons! They are so badly written that it has quickly become one of the most funny Tv shows I’ve ever seen! This episode features the Impossible Man who’s kinda stupid anyway but this takes him to a whole new level of lame!
Check out the beginning dialogue alone he has with the extremely brain dead bank robbers is some of the best I’ve heard in a long time. This one is already Rivaling The Menace of Magneto episode. This again is a shortened version I’d love to see it in it’s entirety. Check this out if you dare!!
Brilliant Comedy from Doctor Doom!
Well yesterday was my birthday and last night I got pretty hammered so today my brain isn’t really working too well. But anyway probably the best thing I could have done was watch The Menace of Magneto episode from the 70’s Fantastic Four Series at the end of the night completely hammered while eating Taco Bell. Yeah not such a healthy night but it was fun! The cartoon delivers the goods everytime. I posted a blog of here about it a while back. I have never seen a cartoon that makes me laugh that hard while trying to take itself seriously. So it got me thinking today that need to find all of these episodes! I mean is it possible that the others are just as hilarious??? Well I found some clips on Youtube that just have to be seen to be believed! The best thing about it is it’s the same guy doing the voice of Doctor Doom that did the mentally challenged Magneto from the other brilliant epsiode! Yeah Doctor Doom like Magneto has to tell you everything that he’s doing as he’s doing it! I am going to comb ebay so I can get the full version of this one if it’s out there on vhs. Check this shit out!!

Hasbro’s New Transformers Features A Devastator and Jetfire Wannabe!
So this is pretty simple, but Universal Dork would really like your opinion. When it comes to Transformers, it is great to see the universe refreshed cause the comics and cartoon were just a staple of our youth. But I think all old schoolers agree that the movies just sucked; same situation as high cost sci-fi cartoon-based movies…great FX and cinematography, but terrible writing, plot, character development, casting, etc. (you know, all those other pesky movie making skills).
A natural byproduct of the movie, you have a refresh of characters due to artistic integrity and pending popularity an eventual toy line. So when I heard Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen was going to feature classic characters like Jetfire and Devastator…I was pretty excited. Let’s face it, how could you screw up some awesomely powerful transformers like these two? Wow, I continue to be pretty naïve in my trust of Hollywood nowadays. Read on for more information.
Roger Rabbit Returns….
Over the weekend it was revealed that Robert Zemekis is indeed bringing Roger Rabbit back to the big screen. There hasn’t been too much solid info revealed on the sequel except that movie will be penned by it’s original writers Peter Seaman and Jeffrey Price. There has been talk of making the movie partailly in 3-D and using motion capture for all characters other than the cartoons in a recent interview I saw at Mtv.com. Something is starting to sound a little well how can I put it quite simply? Lame!

So wasn’t the charm of the first movie the fact that the Toons were existing in the real world? Continue reading
Classic Halloween Looney Toons!
When I was a kid I was crazy about Bugs Bunny! To this day many of the cartoons are absolutely hilarious though not the the most PC. Well it’s good to know that I can still watch Bugs Bunny anytime I want thanks to Youtube!
One thing I always loved during Halloween was watching all the cartoons and specials you’d see on tv all month! I came across this amazing Bugs classics today as I combed Youtube for cool halloween specials I used to love as a kid. These cartoons were also featured on a Looney Toons Halloween special back in the 80’s. It still makes me laugh and brings back a time when all we dreamed of was putting on your costume, trick or treating, eating candy and watching cartoons all night! Sit back and relax because these are halloween classics..
Who’ll save the day?…The Super Hero Squad!
There is no doubt that I will forever be a big kid…and there is no changing that…ever…even with fisticuffs! So when Cartoon Network debuted Marvel’s new cartoon addition to its comic legacy, The Super Hero Squad, all of my super senses were poised and ready to view. Of course, I did my usual relaxation, meditation, and inner soul searching to prepare myself for what I knew would be the case. This is a kid’s show, and I have to make the concessions necessary. Well, the verdict is in…call me a dork, I deserve it, I freaking loved the show! But I am easy to please.

The Frog, The Dog & The Devil??
So last night I went out for a few drinks with fellow Universal Dorker James Hall and while at the bar, Beulahland here in Portland they were playing some awesome obscure cartoons on the projector as they always do on monday nights. One of the cartoons shown was an amazing short New Zealand film from 1986 called “The Frog, The Dog and The Devil” which I had never seen before.
While they showed this cool cartoon however, they were playing music in the background so you couldn’t hear any of the dialogue. So I figured if I came home and checked it out on Youtube that I’d have a much better understanding of what this film was actually all about. Well, no such luck! Though it was on Youtube (yay!) hearing it with it’s original soundtrack did not make this any easier to understand. Mind you I did have a few at the bar so maybe I’m just missing something? I tried to find more info about it online and didn’t come up with too much more than a blank IMDB page.
Either way this is an amazing cartoon everyone should check out. It obviously has alot to do with drinking, a frog, a dog and the supernatural. Perhaps you can make your own assumptions about what this short really means. Either way if you are a fan of obscure animation this one is for you….
