Morgan Freeman, The Yeti & Spider-man?!!

It’s been a LONG time since I have even thought of The Electric Company and I totally forgot that they had a Spider-man segment on the show as well!

Well here’s a classic story from that very show and it features Morgan Freeman too! Oh yeah did I already mention a ridiculous Yeti as well? Check this clip from the early 70’s out! They just don’t make em’ like this anymore!

Let’s Get Ready To Rumble! Cartoon Style!! Part 1!

So as a kid and even now as an adult I must admit I am pretty entranced by a good cartoon brawl! So I decided to start a little addition here at Universal Dork where I compile some good cartoon fights! Super heroes, Smurfs, Bugs Bunny Whatever! I just wanna see some good cartoon whoop-ass!! Here it is, the first installment of Epic Cartoon Fights!!!

 So naturally I will start with one of the MOST epic battles in cartoon history Optimus Prime Vs. Megatron from the Transformers animated movie! You just know by the music it’s gonna be good! It doesn’t get much better than this but unfortunately this battle saw the end of Optimus as we knew him….

Bill Murray Confirms He’s Dead!!

I just read some great news about Ghostbusters 3! Bill Murray has finally confirmed what many people thought was simply a rumour being spread by Sigouney Weaver. After her recent interview where she apparently spilled the beans on Murray indeed being in the third installment and even more strange appearing in the movie as a ghost! Almost immediately after that she took back those comments and suddenly started saying she’d never even read the script! What a flake huh?! So up until now people have really been wondering if Murray was even going to appear in the third film at all. There have been many times Murray admits that he’s really not all that pumped by the idea of a third flick. Good thing he got over it because I am pumped!

Anime Wolverine? NO thanks!

I must say I just saw the worst version of Wolverine ever! It’s anime Wolverine from the upcoming animated Marvel japanese feature due out this year! I actually thought that nothing could top the crappy-ass version we got of Wolverine in his solo flick until now. Now I’ve not actually seen anything other than this trailer and I’m willing to give it a fair shot but really this was the BEST they could come up with?? Lancer from Robotech with some claws???!! Check it out for yourself maybe I’m just totally crazy here but I seen some manga versions of Wolverine that looked pretty damn rad. So what gives here?

 Why give Wolvie the worst hair-do of all time?? And what the hell, is Wolverine now anorexic? I am also not entirely but is Wolverine now a woman? Oh well at least they gave him claws!

Bring Back the GIANT Treasury Editions!

When I was a kid there was really nothing that was more cool than a brand new comic book except one thing: A Treasury Edition comic book! What are those? You don’t remember the Treasury Editions?!! Well let me refresh your memory. They were basically gigantic versions of your favorite comic books sometimes three or more stories and sometimes more than one title per book! These Treasury Editions were huge measuring ( I am actually measuring one of mine right now!)  13 & 1/2 x 10 inches and having 80 advertisement free pages! These were very popular in the 70’s but seemed to fizzle out in the 80’s. Sometimes the issues would have brand new covers and the back cover was always specifically drawn for the treasury edition which was essentially like a poster!

These were just as rad as any toy and I remember carrying around my stack of these pretty much everywhere I went being the envy of any kid that saw me! Continue reading →

Are you ready for Gremlins 3 in 3-D??

Rumors are running wild now about another old classic movie franchise getting some life blown back into it! This time it’s Gremlins that’s supposedly getting a third installment. To me this is already sounding like a bad idea. It could just be because the original Gremlins has a special nostalgic place in my heart as I am sure it does to many other people. It doesn’t however surprise me in the least that this film is reportedly in the early stages of development. With the arrival of  Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull (which I personally enjoyed, the direct to video Lost Boys 2 (which was just a shame direct to dvd flaming turd), George Lucas recently saying after seeing Avatar he’d like to remake Star Wars (please noooo!) and recent news of Ghostbusters 3 it was only a matter of time before Gremlins caught the same trend.

Animated Jems of the 80’s that Rocked too!

I have been gearing up for quite sometime here to do a list of the Ten Best Animated Movies Ever and though I have most of my picks in mind I recently discovered two movies I desperately need to see before choosing the final ten. Now keep in mind when making this list I am not including computer animated movies like Shrek or Ice Age. I am compiling movies that were hand drawn animation. Well the other day while looking for images from Maximum Overdrive I ran across a movie poster online that brought back some memories as a child. The holidays are still raging on and next up is the ever festive New Years! Big plans this year? Well if you’re choosing to chill at home with some friends and a bunch of booze this New Years you may wanna get out there and rent some movies! That’s why I’m giving you a list of a few movies that take place on New Years to entice your audience with. Good thing about these flicks are that each one gets more enjoyable with some liquor! You’d think there’d be alot more New Years themed movies out there worth watching but the truth is the pickins are a bit on the slim side for some reason. So without any further ramblings let’s get the celebration started!

Would the REAL Karate Kid Please Stand Up?!

Here it is the new trailer to the remake of the Karate Kid, a movie that I refuse to see! Wasn’t The Next Karate Kid with Hilary Swank bad enough? Now we have a remake of probably one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. Not to mention one of the best 80’s movies ever. Luckily they changed the names of the main characters. I would blow my top if Jaden Smith was Daniel Laruso and Jackie Chan was Mr. Miagi!!
