If the Collector Calls…it’s gonna be Bad News!
So, The Collector…saw it this weekend and here are my thoughts…
When approaching the theater, I had to remind myself that The Collector was written and directed by Marcus Dunstan. Dunstan has written Saw IV, V, and the upcoming VI (personally, the world could have done without II-V). In the case of The Collector, I really did not want to see new Jigsaw killer, torture scenes, horrendous blood via wild and impractical contraptions, etc., but rather something that would show Dunstan can do different styles of horror. After all, this was his first attempt at directing, perhaps a desire to differentiate himself. Dunstan also has other “interesting” credentials…for instance he was the writer of the Feast movies (again a trilogy that was just fine being one movie, and was a great movie I might add). So, I erased my expectations and ventured forth into the dark confines of my new home for the 85 minute run time.

Treevenge!!
Fellow dork and blogger Konales recently turned me onto this rad short horror film about christmas trees! After watching this film you’ll never view christmas time the same again. That time of the year has got to be pretty horrific for pine trees all over the world- check this out!
Halloween Came Early This Year!
Fellow Universal Dorks, let’s return to a day back in June, June 16th of 2009 to be exact…where Universal Dork authored the blog entitled 4 Horror flicks you didn’t know you were excited for! In particular the movie Trick r’ Treat was called out for a movie that you want to add to your list. Well friends, Universal Dork has pushed to the frontlines of Dorkness and is represented at the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con International, and last night there was an pre-viewing of TRICK R’ TREAT!

The Undirectable Klaus Kinski!
I recently rewatched “Crawlspace”, the 1986 slasher classic about a derranged nazi landlord who only rents rooms to cute girls and then spies on them through heating ducts in the building. Oh yeah he also likes to torture and kill them in the attic. I remember always seeing this the cover of this movie in the video store when I was a kid and the guy’s face always freaked me out a bit. Well there was a reason for that, because the movie’s star, cult hero, Klaus Kinski was out of his damn mind!

DEADWORLD movie!! One of BEST zombie comics to hit the big screen!
It really surprises me how many people have never read or for that matter even heard of the awesome 1987 comic book Deadworld! This is a great apocolyptic zombie tale that follows a group of Teens traveling in a school bus cross country on the run from the undead. There is a twist though, a group of zombies have gained human intellegence and this gang rides around on Harleys, speak their mind and are led by a bad ass undead biker named “King Zombie” who’s determined to open the gateway to Hell on Earth!

4 Horror flicks you didn’t know you were excited for!
Being a big horror fan I always looking forward to possible awesome new movies! So right now here the ones I have been hearing the most about that look pretty promising. I doubt most of these will have a theatrical release here but that just means that they’ll probably be that much better than most of the movies passing in the theaters today as horror. Check out these trailers:
“Trick R’ Treat” is supposed to be an awesome throwback to movies like “Creepshow” that had several creepy tales in one movie. This is something that most movies today can’t seem to get right. I’ve heard alot of great things about this one across the board! It’s coming out sometime in October…
Deep Sea Basket case!!!
Just the other evening I posted a couple videos up here about some really awesome deep sea creatures. I was doing a little more research on the whole topic and decided to check out some videos of the Anglerfish. Wow, they are pretty damn creepy fish I must say! After viewing this particular video of an Anglerfish I thought I was onto something BIG!
It’s new comic day! The new “Crossed” is out…
With the economy in a shambles and money flow down, new comic day can be a little trickier than it used to be. I’ve already dropped alot of titles that just weren’t cutting it anymore and with many comic books now moving their prices up to $3.99 a pop I’ve really become alot more choosy on what I read every week. It seems to me alot of the Marvel stuff I was reading I’ve left at the wayside. Poor stories and barely acceptable artwork runs common in many of their titles. Even our homeboy Bendis seems to have lost his magic touch. There however are a few titles that always seem to make the cut. “The Walking Dead” is a no brainer and probably the BEST comic book out there today. But there’s also another horror comic which is delivering the chills consistantly, Garth Ennis’s “Crossed”.

Will somebody please kick “THE WISHMASTER’S” ASS?!!
Man oh man I just recently revisted “The Wishmaster” series from the late 90’s and really the only thing I can truely say about it is that of all the movie monsters in history The Wishmaster himself is in most serious need of of an ass beating! This evil djinn has just gotta be the most irritating and annoying villain to grace the silver screen.
Are you craving a good monster movie??
I must say as far as horror movies go I am a HUGE fan of monster movies!! So any time I see a good one I want to make sure I get the word out there about it. I finally got to see “Splinter” which i somehow missed the first time around when it played in town here last year. Well last tuesday it was released on dvd and I made sure to pick it up! If I would have caught this one in the theater it would have most definaltely made it into my top 10 horror flicks of 2008 list I did a while back.
