Alpha Flight Preview Arrives!
I just found out a few minutes ago that there’s a 9 page preview up for the upcoming 8 issue limited Alpha Flight series that ties into the current “Fear Itself” storyline! Now I’m not really following the Fear Itself storyline per say as personally it just really didn’t sound all that interesting to me. If I was made of money these days I would most likely be throwing down the cash for it regardless but sadly as of late I have to be a bit more picky with my weekly selections. However I will be checking out this mini series as it features quite possibly my fave super hero team of all time.
Anyway as you can imagine I am downright thrilled to see Alpha Flight is back again! Even Bendis couldn’t keep them down, but the question remains is this going to be the Alpha Flight book fans have been waiting for? Is this the answer to John Byrne’s magnificent 80’s run? Well if you check out this link here you can make that judgement yourself I have my fingers crossed as I’m going to check out the first nine pages right now! One question I have however is what the heck happened to Marrina? She looks like she just got off work from her weekend job at Hot Topic!
The Green Bay Packers Best Kept Secret!!
Ok so I am really not a big sports fan-I never have been but being from Wisconsin there’s certainly some huge hype right now on the Green Bay Packers as they are getting ready to play in the Super Bowl tomorrow!! Now really I don’t care at all normally but there’s one super hero from the Marvel Universe who I guarantee will be watching the game this year-Sasquatch!!
Why you ask? Well there is a little known fact about Walter Langkowski (Sasquatch’s real name) that not many people even remember- He once played for the Green Bay Packers!
Comic Book Cover of the Week! So Speaks The Champion!!
This particular cover from Marvel Two In One Annual #7 has to be one of my all-time favorites. Mainly because as a kid this particular issue was one of my all time favorite comic books ever. It’s a straight up boxing tournament where earth’s mightiest, Marvel’s heavyweights are all gathered to take on none other than the Champion. An unbeatable blue skinned red haired freako alien boxing fanatic put’s our favorite hero’s into a contest to simply see if any can actually provide a sufficient challenge to him.
You name it Marvel’s strongest are all here Sasquatch, Colossus, The Hulk, The Thing. Yeah they all get their asses served (well technically The Hulk never gets to fight cuz he freaks out in the ring and The Champion refuses to battle a wild monster), all except The Thing who does put up a decent fight. The smackdown though Mr. Grimm takes however is quite brutal and bloody especially for an 80’s comic. It always bummed me out that The Thing lost at the end but he definately gives the Champion a run for his money!
Bigfoot Battles an Alien!
If you’re looking for a good epic back issue to pick up along with your new releases on Wednesday look no further! I am recommending one of my all time favorite back issues ever! Of course it’s no secret that I love Alpha Flight! I honestly can’t wait for someone to give it the reboot it needs in the Marvel Universe today. It seems it’s been tried several times and it just never seems to be even remotely close to as good as the original John Byrne Run. Which leads me to one of my favorite issues from 1984. Alpha Flight # 10!
Of course if you really want the whole story you should really pick up #9 as well but if you wanna cut straight to the action this issue delivers the goods with Byrne’s amazing artwork. Continue reading
Let’s hear it for bigfoot!!
So i think everyone can agree that Bigfoot is probably the coolest damn guy in the entire world!! And i just know he really exists even though now suddenly everyone doubts his existence since those two backwoods dudes and that Bigfoot “expert” hack said they had the real proof that indeed our buddy Sasquatch existed. But we don’t need those losers to ruin our belief in his existence for us with some old Chewbacca suit from 1978 stuffed in a moldy freezer. Everybody and anybody knows that Bigfoot is interdimensional and most likely immortal therefore living forever and never leaving a carcass to be found. With that said i’d like to start a new category for the guy here called “Bigfoot Sightings” so from time to time we can document where and when this Yeti has been seen through the years. If you have a good one post it here!! The first one i could think of would be when he fought the “Six Million Dollar Man” in the 1970’s check this shit out:
