Revisting “the Brood”…
David Cronenberg is still making great movies to this day. Many people know him mainly for A History of Violence, Eastern Promises or even his classic The Fly, which is just simply one of the best horror movies ever made. But let’s not forget about one of his most frightening films from the late 70’s. The Brood. There is always something completely eerie and off about his movies and this one thrives on both. In fact throughout nearly the whole movie you you’ll be trying to peice things together that clearly seem to make no sense and don’t fit.

District 9 is an Easy 10!
This is not an in-depth review of District 9, this blogger is just not going to attempt on this one. Nor do I want to spoil any of the magic. But hear me now!
Go see District 9 immediately…if you love Sci-Fi, this is hands down one of the best Sci-Fi movie of the last decade.
Not since Enemy Mine has a movie had such an impact on me. The message of the movie is pretty simple to read from the trailer…but the execution is glorious.
Yes, there is CG, but it is damn near flawless.
In the age of remakes, prequels, sequels, re-imagining, or unearthing classics…this is a truly original work of art.
I can’t say enough about this movie. A 10 out of 10…no question.
Gettin’ Down with Watership Down
Any attempt I can get, I love to relive the cartoons and movies of my childhood. In this particular case, it occurred to me…what about that movie Watership Down? I am sure many of the loyal readers are familiar but are most likely in the same position I found myself…I remember that movie, I remember rabbits fighting…lots of blood, it being very confusing…and very dark. Well, I sat down the other night and watched the classic again and I highly recommend that all the readers, if you have not seen this recently, take the time…it is a classic story for a reason.
Peter Jackson Finally Returns….
The new trailer for peter Jackson’s first movie since King Kong has finally been released. Based on the best selling book by Alice Sebold, “The Lovely Bones” follows the story of a young girl who has been murdered as she watches over her family and her killer from heaven. I have never read the book but the movie trailer looks interesting. Reminding me perhaps a bit of his work on “Heavenly Creatures”. It’s not exactly what I would have prefered to be his next work but I will most definately give it a watch. Oh yeah it looks like Mark Wahlberg is in this one too starring as the same character he was from M. Night Shyamalan’s snoozer “The Happening”. Great….
Crappy Monsters RULE!!
I just saw this cool little video this morning about crappy movie monsters! Check this out and see what we’re missing out on now that all the crappy monsters are CG! If they are gonna look bad I want em’ this way again! enjoy…
If The Orphan calls….it’s gonna be bad news in a very good way!
In response to the most recent post about the new horror flick “The Collector” being more or less a total clunker, I just had to give theater going horror fans a little hope. I realize that this movie opened up on the 24th and many of you may have already seen it, but for those of you who haven’t you need to trek on down to the theater for “Orphan”!

Great News For The Alien!
It has recently come to my attention that they are making another “Alien” movie! Yeah I know what you are all thinking-what movie franchises are they NOT remaking or making a sequel for? Well this new Alien will not be a remake but a prequel. Ok well if that is not cool enough how about the fact that Ridley Scott who directed the very first Alien is on board to direct?! Yeah it’s true and I really think this is the way to go with these sequels that are beginning to pop up all over movie land. The movies plot according to Bloodydisgusting.com so far goes like this:

Zombie Horror…AT BARGAIN BASEMENT PRICING!!!
I heard about this film a while back, but typical of me, I did not do my due diligence and follow up…well now Colin, a new British zombie flick is gaining some critical mass. The most shocking thing is that this movie was made for only $70 or more appropriately, about 42 pounds and 50 pence (based on current exchange rates)!

Planet Hulk movie set for February 2010 release!!
For those of you still feeling a little let-down by last year’s Hulk film, Marvel recently announced something that should help for a little while, at least:
Planet Hulk! The animated adaptation of the insanely popular storyline of the same name, will be hitting theaters in February 2010. All of the Illuminati-deceiving, Miek-evolving and Skaar-baby-making action we loved from the comics set to move before our eyes! Check out this trailer, released by Capcom:
Treevenge!!
Fellow dork and blogger Konales recently turned me onto this rad short horror film about christmas trees! After watching this film you’ll never view christmas time the same again. That time of the year has got to be pretty horrific for pine trees all over the world- check this out!
