Great News For The Alien!

It has recently come to my attention that they are making another “Alien” movie! Yeah I know what you are all thinking-what movie franchises are they NOT remaking or making a sequel for? Well this new Alien will not be a remake but a prequel. Ok well if that is not cool enough how about the fact that Ridley Scott who directed the very first Alien is on board to direct?! Yeah it’s true and I really think this is the way to go with these sequels that are beginning to pop up all over movie land. The movies plot according to Bloodydisgusting.com  so far goes like this:

“The film is set up to be a prequel to the groundbreaking 1979 film that Scott directed. It will precede that film, in which the crew of a commercial towing ship returning to Earth is awakened and sent to respond to a distress signal from a nearby planetoid. The crew discovers too late that the signal generated by an empty ship was meant to warn them.”

If you are going to do a nostalgic sequel (or prequel in this case) right then get the original director back.  I know that this does not mean success, I mean look how many people were utterly pissed off at the latest Indiana Jones movie?

Either way I think that this move by 20th Century Fox is a good one and perhaps will start setting some trends. Perhaps proposed sequels to films will now start to gather the attention of their original directors who want to see their legacy continue on the right way. Now all we have to do is convince Mr. Scott to direct a sequel to “LEGEND”!

Thanks for pulling this together, I keep hearing about this, but as usual, I never look it up. man if Scott was back on this, that would be choice. I hope you are right about the trend…directors/actors, going back to what worked and made them the heroes they are today. In a day of nothing original, it is great to have the originals returning to retake their legacy!
