Comic Book Nostalgia: Rock Star Rob Liefeld and his 501’s!

I have mentioned this commercial here from the early 90’s you know back when Rob Liefeld was a comic book rock star! I am not sure how that happened really to this day, it still amazes me but ol’ Liefer has gotten enough negative press! So let’s not dwell on the fact that comic books like Youngblood is seriously unreadable as in doing so will likely make you less intellegent & damage your brain.

Well folks that’s not all for today I also found this interview with Dennis Miller from back in the day. I think this was pre-Dennis Miller is the biggest Douche in the world era. Now that I am thinking about when exactly did Miller switch from being super funny to an asinine political tool? Sellin’ Beer in 1984 With Jesse The Body Ventura!!

So it’s 1984, you got a liquor  store and  you live in the Midwest  – how are you gonna beat out your competitors? Well that’s a no brainer  you get Jesse the Body Ventura to endorse your store!! Hell yeah that’s what they did here in this little clip from way back in the day! I gotta say I was always  a fan of Jesse in the WWF and even more so I gotta say today he’s one of the coolest people around. So cool I have been hoping Ventura would run for President in 2012 as it has been rumored because the guy would have my vote in a heartbeat! If you don’t know his political stances check them out on Youtube, if you ain’t interested then just check out how rad he was back in the 80’s as he claims he doesn’t drink beer from a bottle but rather a motherfuckin’ keg!

The First and Last Appearance of Nicotine!!

So everyone knows that smokin’ is bad for ya! Right? Well sometimes though you can easily be swayed when a dastardly supervillain named Nicotine sweet talks you with pro-smokin’ fancy talk!! After you watch this old PSA starring Superman you’ll clearly see how you sometimes need a hero to help you kick the habit! check this shit out-it’s actually a pretty awesomely animated little cartoon even if it was the first and LAST appearance of one of Superman’s greatest foes!!

I’ll never forget how cool the Green machine was!!!

When I was a little kid I always  loved big wheels. But what I wanted even more was The Green Machine!!! I remember all the cool kids had ’em and while I was riding around on my big wheel the other kids were doing circles around me in their Green Machines!! For some reason I was never able to get one. I think they were a little more pricey at the time or maybe it was because of how many cool ass dangerous moves you could pull off on one these puppies that made my parents fear this amazing vehicle! Anyway I ran across the commercial for it and the envious memories flooded back into my mind. Well now that I am older who’s to say you won’t see me finally cruisin’ the streets on my own Green Machine?!

You Control the Hulk!! Well sorta….

One thing that I love are vintage toys and their commercials! Another thing I love beyond belief is The Incredible Hulk! So check out this “radio controlled” version of the jade giant. Sounds pretty amazing huh? Controlling the Hulk’s every move?! Wrecking havok on all that stand in his way? Well not quite, it was 1980 so you had to take what you could get. How about a blow up doll Hulk attached to  a radio contolled stand? Well I certainly thought it was the shit!  So what if the rest of his body didn’t move and he moved more slowly than a wasted tortoise! Check this out and see what all the rage was if you were a kid in 1980!

Plus check out this commercial from 1980 for the Incredible Hulk shoes shown above! Yeah I know you’ve seen some recent Hulk shoes that were inspired by the movies and I must say they looked pretty terrible. I’d like to get my hands on a pair of 9 and 1/2 Hulk shoes. I wonder if they made them in adult sizes? May have to check ebay for that and a pair of Hulk Underoos!
