It’s 1987: Trick or Treat! How about a Comic Book Instead?!

Way back in 1987 Marvel had an idea-let’s give kids comic books instead of candy on Halloween! Yeah back in those days people were super freaked out that Halloween candy was poisoned or that it had razor blades and needle s stuck in it. Whoever started that rumor has gotta be a major party pooper-I mean did anyone ever really get harmed by Halloween candy?! Well Marvel had the solution and  one that really should have stuck-mini comic books instead! Hell I’d take an Incredible Hulk comic over a Baby Ruth any day!!! Check this out:

Well along with my mini comics I’ll gladly take one of these Hulk Trick or Treat candy or in this case comic book carriers from 1979!!

Season’s Greetings from Sam!

If you missed the awesome “Trick ‘r Treat” from 2009 I suggest that you go out this Halloween season here, gear up with some sweets and check it out! It is easily one of the best new horror movies released in the past five years and the perfect one to watch on Halloween! The best part of the movie is by far when Brian Cox faces the lil’ Samhain – reminding me of an awesome  80’s lost episode of ‘Tales from the Darkside”. Also if by chance you end up renting the 1986 movie Trick or Treat, well you are also in for a campy treat as well-But this little short animated feature was one of the inspirations for the movie and the first appearance of Sam!

Who Said New Horror Movies Suck?? Doghouse Delivers the Goods!

I just finished viewing a great horror comedy that was just released this week on dvd for everyone’s Halloween viewing pleasure. ‘Doghouse’ is little a British film that certainly delivers the laughs and gore a’plenty-ala Shaun of the Dead and Severance. The plot is simple, nine middle aged men set off for a weekend of drunken mayhem to a little village in the middle of the woods called ‘Moodley’ where apparently the females outnumber the males four to one. What they arrive to however is a bit more mayhem than they bargained for as it seems this little resting place turns out to be filled with psychotic mutated she-beasts!

That’s pretty much it folks, if you have short attention span and feel like drinkin’ a few beers this halloween with your fellow fiends you best put this little gem high up on your list of movies to see. Continue reading

Rob Zombie – Redemption!

A couple months back, this dork was a bit hard on Rob Zombie. In a blog about his plans to remake The Blob, I guess I was a bit harsh in my criticism about how he keeps remaking things and why the divergence from the original works like House of the 100 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects. Well, today there was an article on CNN.com that bitch slapped me a bit and put my back in the mood for loving Mr. Zombie. Please read on to learn more!

Halloween Horror Movie Night! 5 Flicks that will deliver!

This is by far the best season to watch horror movies! So what are you gonna do with yourself before halloween? Spend your money sitting at a bar? Go to bed early? Watch reruns of Small Wonder ’til 2am? Smash some neighborhood pumpkins? No way! It’s Horror Movie Night time!! Pick out a few movies make some good food, grab some beer, invite some friends over and watch a few awesome movies in honor of this splendid holiday! But the real question is what to watch right? Well ponder this no longer because here are five movies that will be sure to please the even the most finnicky of your friends!

1. Trick ‘r Treat.

You read of the review months ago right here and luckily this one got released before halloween. This is probably your best bet for Horror Night since it obviously takes place on  halloween and is one of the coolest halloween themed movies I have ever seen.  It has a cool old school 80’s vibe, no CG and has four awesome interwoven tales of the macabre! Produced by X-men’s own Bryan singer to boot!

Halloween is around the corner!!

Halloween has gotta be the best holiday ever! I mean what’s better than dressiing up as whatever you want for one night? Watching scary movies?? Eating candy? Scaring people and small children?! It’s no wonder that the one of the best bands ever wrote one of the best punk songs about it! The Misfits embody everything great about this holiday and Iam not talking about Jerry Only and his Misfits cover band he tours around as now. Check out this cool video from the early 80’s where The Misfits perfrom this classic. It’s time to get pumped for hallowwen 2009!

Relive the Muppet Nightmare!

I keep finding more halloween treasures from mychildhood on Youtube! Check out this awesome clip of Alice Cooper performing “Welcome To My Nightmare” on the Muppet Show’s halloween special! The Muppet Show was probably the greatest tv show of all time by the way and Jim Henson has got to be one of the greatest people to have ever graced this planet. So check out Alice as he rocks out with some spooky muppets!

Star Wars Horror Novel set for Halloween ’09!!

StarWars.com has recently revealed the cover for their Halloween ’09 horror release: Deathtroopers

dthtrprs

Although, details on what exactly it’s about remain unknown (and likely will until Comic Con), the cover has me super-excited. Horror has long been a missing ingredient from the Star Wars universe. A universe where “blast-marks” are, for the most part, our only evidence of death at another’s hands.

I’m also loving the cover’s suggestion of this being set around original trilogy era, rather than yet another prequel trilogy yarn. Kudos to the neck-guts and cords coming out the bottom of the helmet!
