Wolverine: Set to Kick the Bucket This Summer! I Say It’s About Time!
So news has dropped that Marvel plans to “kill off” Wolverine this summer in the upcoming “3 Months to Die” starting with Wolverine #8. I’m sure no one will shed a tear as well all know Wolverine won’t be gone for long and that this type of shit goes down every ten years or so to boost sales. This however is something I think that Marvel needs to do desperately. Marvel has gone Wolverine crazy over the years, putting him in almost every comic book imaginable.
He even joined the Avengers, a move that today still doesn’t fly with me. Wolverine will NEVER feel like an Avenger to me. I never would’ve imagined that anyone could make Logan a boring character, but it happened. They’ve been beating a dead horse with him for far too long now. I’m actually pretty tired of seeing him in comic books, I’m totally burnt out. He seems to show up everywhere. If you would tell me that Wolverine actually has fifteen identical twin brothers at this point I’d totally buy it. I’m really actually glad he’s not able to show up as a team member in the Avengers movies…
He’s no longer mysterious. In fact he’s so far from mysterious these days that there’s really not much interesting to do with him other than kill off the lil’ runt! Wow, can you imagine a Marvel universe without Wolverine?! It sounds kinda….exciting! I can’t imagine it really, and that’s why it needs to happen.
“If the title sounds ominous, it’s for a good reason,” says Editor in Chief Axel Alonso. “What will be waiting for readers in September, when ‘3 Months to Die’ is over? Let’s just say, it’s going to be the buzz of the comics world.”
I’m sure Marvel realizes that they really haven’t crafted an exciting Wolverine story in decades. So yeah count me in, I wanna see Wolvie go down and stay down for a long time. I’m really curious who’s going to do him in (I hope it’s not Sabretooth-I’m still sick of that guy too). I wanna miss the guy. I want it to feel special again when he shows up in another title as a guest star. He used to be one of my favorite characters of all time, we all need a break sometimes from the people we love. I’m for the first time in forever excited to read Wolverine!
The Walking Dead #100 : Shocking Yet Oddly Unfulfilling….
So today ends the wait for issue number 100, an issue that writer Robert Kirkman never thought possible for the series when it all started. Issue 100 had a LOT of speculation and mystery surrounding it, people were waiting to be blown away. Well now the question is after all the hubbub did it deliver the goods? I didn’t think so personally…
I will say that it was truly the most brutal issue we’ve yet seen. Some of the panels were undeniably hard to look at. The blood ran cold and here we are once again with the death of one of the books longest lasting characters. Yes it was a sad and depressing issue and one that I have no doubt will have fans talking and mourning the death of Glenn for a long time to come. So what’s wrong with it then you might ask? I am most likely a minority here, but aside from the extreme carnage in this issue it really didn’t have much to offer even with it’s added extra pages. It seems to me that this book is in serious need of new ideas, new scenery and the sheer adventure that should fuel it’s readers. Issue 100 feels a little too “been there done that” to me.
Negan is clearly designed to be the books next “Governor”. However the Governor was done first and done better and really Kirkman after all the “Lucile is coming” hype it turns out that Lucile is a barbed wire baseball bat? Um… pretty disappointing. I feel like sometimes I may have been mistaking “good writing” in this series lately for the sudden shocking deaths of characters. It seems Kirkman can kill major characters every so often amidst a rather monotonous storyline and somehow get away with his book still being praised as the most epic series out there. Now don’t get me wrong, I still like The Walking Dead, I thought this was a good issue and I still will keep on board most likely until the series ends. However I can honestly say that I really don’t love it in the way I used to. I’d like to see something new brought to the table, I have grown seriously tired of the “sitting in one place and trying to start a community” scenario again and again. I think these characters need to get off their asses and get some answers to what is really going on, I’d like to see a little less of how terrible humanity is over and over. Yes we get it Kirkman, zombies bad, humans even worse. Let’s see a little supernatural development above the rather blah zombie infection or let’s send the crew off somewhere completely different, perhaps out to sea or hell as Kirkman continually jokes maybe now is the time for the Alien’s to appear! Heck I think it’d be more exciting than watching another “shocking” character death don’t you?
We’ll Miss You MCA….
Who the heck doesn’t love the Beastie Boys?! If you don’t then you probably don’t like having fun plain and simple. We all know that MCA sadly passed yesterday and one thing is for certain he will be missed. Him and the Boys have been putting out great albums to this day. He’s a huge influence in the world of hip hop and a truly amazing MC. Once again we lose another great entertainer far too young…
Still Trying to Forget The “New Monkees” of 1987!!
Well I have had The Monkees on the brain since hearing of Davy Jones passing yesterday. It got me thinking of the Monkees when I was a kid and how much I loved them. It also got me thinking of something else I wish I could forget-do any of you remember The New Monkees?!!
If not that’s probably a good thing! If you do then you know what a crap-tas-tic idea and show this was. The year was 1987 and in 1986 the Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork released the hit song “That Was Then, This is Now” remember that? Well it brought on a sort of Monkees revival and someone over at Columbia Pictures thought the answer to this new rise in popularity was….The New Monkees.
These idiots had zero to do with the old group but somehow they got a tv show, an album and the band name The Monkees! Not a bad deal huh!? Well what happened was nobody gave a shit about the NEW Monkees, their show or their music-because well, people loved the REAL Monkees!!! I know as a kid this shit didn’t compare and it actually made me angry when this show would suddenly appear on my tv screen! Geez…anyway they made some really bad 80’s music and 13 really incredibly unfunny tv episodes….so live it up New Monkees today you get another 5 seconds of fame from me here….Enjoy!!
Davy Jones: My Favorite Scooby Doo Character…
It’s bummed me out big time today upon finding out that Davy Jones, my favorite Monkee passed away today. I LOVE the Monkees, I always have they have been a huge part of my childhood with my parents playing their music, watching the tv show as a child after school and even more so as a kid seeing Davy Jones guest star on Scooby Doo! Below are the concept Davy Jones Scooby cartoon art for the epsiode!
Yeah he appeared on the legendary 1972 episode of the New Scooby Doo Movies called “The Haunted Horsemen of Hagglethorn Hall”. These episodes were an hour long and featured guest stars like Batman & Robin, Phyllis Diller, Don Knotts and The Harlem Globetrotters. From what I remember of this episode was that Scooby and the Gang were off to help Davy Jones solve a mystery of a castle he inherited-He sang a super groovy song to a huge monster toad too. Davy was my favorite voice of the Monkees, I never got to see them live, but I should have…rest in Peace Davy….
1970’s Raquel Welch Space Boogie….sigh…
Here’s just a reminder that Raquel Welch was a geeks dream come true way back in the 1960’s and 1970’s obviously for roles in movies like One Million Years B.C. and Fantastic Voyage was one of my all time faves as a kid!
Well anyway check her out as she leads a couple stylin’ alien dudes with her sci fi space lady dance ensemble!
Pretty rad space age fashion back from this 1970 clip I am sure Captain Kirk went crazy for her-get down!!
Hitler and the King of Pop…
Let’s take a moment to remember the passing of Michael Jackson. That was a crazy day as many people were sad and just felt downright cheated…especially Adolf Hitler…
