World’s Greatest Puppet Themed Music Videos are Back!

Hey it’s been a while since I posted any new Puppet Themed music vids as I have been trying to prove once and for all that puppets make ANYTHING like 10 times better! Seriously if you are in a band and wanna make a bitchin’ video but can’t think of  anything rad to do in it-worry no further-just put some damn puppets in it and you got yourself  a hit! So here’s yet another video by  Dinosaur Jr covering the cure and yeah it rules and it loaded with puppets! Thus enhancing it’s greatness by at least 10 fold!

Comic Book Cover of the Week!

Incredible Hulk #314 not only is one of my favorite comic book covers but it was also the start of one of my favorite Hulk runs by John Byrne. Nobody draws the Hulk as epic as Byrne. Plus adding in some of his best bad guys (yeah I LOVE Modok) is even better. You can check out this run in the Marvel’s Hulk Visonaries Trade Paperback and read Byrne’s all too short run on the book jam packed as well with lots of Doc Samson-they just don’t make ’em like this anymore!!

Comic Book Cover of the Week! Wen-Di-Go!!

Let’s face it Wendigo is one of the coolest Marvel Comics characters ever and X-men # 140 from 1980 is probably the BEST portrayal of him as being drawn by John Byrne. Not only is the cover to this comic 100% classic but the whole story is just damn awesome. The real story starts in X-men # 139 as Wolverine and Nightcrawler head off to Canada to help none other than Alpha Flight take down the vicious beast. I miss simple storylines like this one which features them all shacking up in a cabin in the woods together. This is one of the classic Claremont/Byrne isssues and may be a bit pricy in it’s original form-but it can be found reprinted several different places-Long live WEN-DI-GO!

Comic Book Cover of the Week! More Sandman!

Here’s another cover that I totally dig and yeah surprisingly enough it’s got the Sandman on it again-This time crushing the Hulk way back in The Incredible Hulk #113! Back in the day though the Sandman was not exclusively busting Peter Parkers chops but was also going toe to toe with The Hulk pretty regularly. There’s something so undeniably cool about the Sandman and this classic cover shows how rad he was even way back when in his alternate costume! Covers like these make me hope that some day we’re rid of the Red Hulk, A-bomb and the current confusing mess that now floods the pages of the jade giant…

Comic Book Cover of the Week! It’s Miller Time!

So this weeks cover is one of my faves drawn by Thing artist extraordinaire Ron Wilson-I always love comic book story lines that really show superheroes on their time off. This particular issue has an amazing cover that simply shows the Thing gettin’ wasted at the local dive bar with none other than the Sandman! This was an unusual pairing at the time to have The Thing “teaming up” with a villain but it seems that after this issue in which the Sandman contemplates his life’s direction and tells his complete origin to Ben Grimm, that the two seem to have a friendship that forms that will lead them once again to drink beer together in yet another later issue (the next time will be in a hospital room). It’s simple comic book story lines that I feel are missed greatly in the comics of today-If you’re looking for a great simple and fun back issue to check out Marvel Two in One #88 from 1982-just make sure to crack open a cold one when reading!

Comic Book Cover of the Week!

I am going to start posting some of my all time favorite comic book covers right here every week. Some will be old some new but all the covers will be totally rad. This first one is a classic and I’m sure it’s on everyone’s list of greatest covers already but really this one from the 80’s can’t be posted enough. It’s during a classic storyline involving the Brood-and this cover by Mark Silvestri (X-men 234) is one of the best X-men images of all time…Stay tuned for some more well known and forgotten comic book cover classics!!
