The Walking Dead Officially Filming!
Hell yeah! The news on the street is that Frank Darbont is offically finally filming the first 6 epsiodes of The Walking Dead as I type this! The best comic book series out there is, I guarantee it, going to become the best tv series ever. They couldn’t have found a better director either as Darabont knows how to give the tension the tv series will need to become a masterpiece. The Mist is good proof of what he can do, I mean quite honestly the cgi used in that film was pretty damn pathetic yet the acting and direction was so well done it made me forget how fake everything looked.
I also read on at Bloody Disgusting that Darabont is basing alot of the zombie action on the original Night of the Living Dead. Continue reading
Kick-Ass Kicks Some Ass But Still Not Enough….
The last week I have been on an epic cross country road trip with a good friend of mine so I haven’t been able to hit the bloggin’ at all. But now having arrived safely at home in Portland Oregon this weekend there was really only one last thing I needed to get accomplished. Go see Kick -Ass! Yeah I have been covering the movies developments pretty heavily here since the comic book has been one of my favs for quite some time. So the wait was finally over and I walked into the theaters with my fingers crossed.
Did the movie deliver? Well sorta if you’d never read the comic book. In fact if you have never read the comic book this may be one of the best “superhero” comic book movies you’ll ever see. Continue reading
Global Frequency TV Show Planned for the CW…5 Years Overdue!
Back in 2004, there was an announcement for the ultra awesome limited comic series Global Frequency to be adapted into a TV miniseries. Life could not get any better, right? They even cut a pilot for the WB…and the fans loved it…the studio shit on it! WTF? Oh yeah, they probably had a reality show that was a priority, or maybe something to remake. So it went nowhere unfortunately, but now there are rumblings again that the Frequency will be created and broadcast on the CW. Whoa yeah! So if you are a comic fan…a Warren Ellis fan…or hell, you just like amazing sci-fi stories, I believe this Global Frequency is on your wavelength.

Your pantz full of a load over this? Me too! More details after the jump…

Out of the Microverse and to the Big Screen…Abrams Looking at The Micronauts
From Lost, to the new Star Trek…JJ Abrams keeps bringing the goods and I for one am happy that a fresh face in Hollywood is able to remake/reimagine and create originals that continue to stir fans crazy. Although I was not a huge fan of Cloverfield, I loved the fact that it was a fresh and original take on the older big ass monster attach genre. So keep the fans guessing, it appears that Abrams is in negotiations to bring a bit of an offbeat but classic comic, The Micronauts, to the silver screen (make sure to check this link, a great site dedicated to the Micronauts!).

Walking Dead Tv Series: Mtv Exclusive Kirkman Interview!
I just read an interview with Robert Kirkman on The Walking Dead Tv series today at Mtv.com. I am really hoping they can pull the grit from the comic book onto the tv screen. It’s obviously a major concern of many people. Even though in the interveiw Kirkman claims the comic book does not rely on gore it still should be noted that he pushes the limit far beyond what’s normally seen on television in the series.

Either way I am pumped to see how well this show turns out & here is some of what Mtv had to report in the interview:
A closer look at “surrogates”!
I ran across this cool featurette on Youtube about the upcoming movie starring Bruce Willis called “The Surrogates”. It is based on the awesome Sci-Fi comic book of the same name that came out a few years back. So far this adaptation looks pretty promising and true to it’s source material. You can find this comic in trade form so if you have not checked this out yet I highly advise you do so. I think it says alot about our current society and how with all the technology out there today many of us are not truely living our lives anymore. We rely on our cell phones, video games and the internet as substitutes for real experiences. This movie and comic book pushes that idea alot further along to what our society someday could look like check this out…
