No Arnold In Predators…..
Well the news has now officially come out that Arnold Schwarzengger will not be appearing afterall in the upcoming Predators film. It’s too bad after all the hype that was made about him reprising his role as Dutch that it seems that he was just too busy once again being Governor of California. Dammit Arnold you need to get your priorities straight! We’re talking about the Predator here!
For some reason you were able to make a cameo in “Around the World in 80 Days” though!!! What’s up with that?? Why the hell did you do that? How about this, just resign as governor already and start making some damn movies again! I thought you were supposed to make King Conan too? Now instead we’ve got a remake with some dude with dreadlocks that weighs like a 160 pounds!
Well at the very least we get to see him in The Expendables. However it’s been seen that Arnie has really let himself go in his older age, I guess unlike Sly Stallone not everyone is getting plastic surgery and taking growth hormones. I have also heard that Arnold may run for the Senate this year?! Bad bad move Arnold you need to postpone your politcal career and get in on these cameos dammit….
Predators Trailer Debut!!
Ok so today the official trailer for Predators is out! It looks pretty bad ass to me and I now I must say I can’t wait for the real film to hit! check it out!!
“The film stars Adrien Brody as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they’ve been brought together on an alien planet… as prey. With the notable exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers – mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members – human “predators” that are now being systematically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators.”
Giant Monsters Everywhere!!
Ok so last night I had a little too much to drink at my weekly epic LOST party! Can you blame me? It’s the last damn season of one of the most epic sci fi shows ever! Anyway often times consuming to much alcohol leads to me either being to brain dead to blog of just too damn tired. Well today however being partially brain dead and I will admit a bit on the tired side spent some time on good ol’ You Tube watching endless videos and one that I thought was a blast to share here was Cinemassacre’s 2008 Top Ten Giant Monsters list! Who doesn’t love a giant movie monster?! If you don’t love giant movie monsters you shouldn’t even be on Universal Dork! There’s literally nothing we like better here than a good giant “man in rubber suit” monster gracing the screen. So take a few moments of your time and check out this cool vid-you’ll never guess who takes the number one spot!
Official Sneak Peek of the PREDATORS Movie…
I just checked out the offical Predators movie website and they now have just posted a cool little featurette up about the movie with some bad ass clips and insight from Robert Rodriguez . It’s looking pretty awesome so far, much better than I expected and incredibly old school ala the original. No sign yet of Arnold, yet he is still rumoured to make a cameo near the end of the movie!
There’s even a quick shot of what appear to be Predator hunting “dogs”. This will hold you over until the 18th when the official trailer is released! Check it out here!
Also check out the full report on the Predators trailer and Q&A with Rodriguez posted today from SXSW from one of my fav websites BloodyDisgusting.com!
More Captain America News and New Tron: Legacy Trailer!
Well some people seemed to think that “The Office” star John Krasinski would be perfect cast as Captain America. I’m not quite sure if it was just because of his appeal from the show, his quirkiness or his acting chops. For me, though he seemed a familiar face and a funny guy just really couldn’t see him as Cap. So today I was a bit relieved when it was officially decided today that he is NOT going to be wielding the shield. For me I will take a sigh of relief. Really he’s the least douchey of all the candidates-so in the end perhaps who knows, maybe he would have been the best choice?
But for now I have faith they will choose someone who screams “Cap” a little more. I heard as well that Chris Evans who played The Human Torch in the god-awful Fantastic Four flicks was up for the role as well now. Personally I’m holding out for my first pic “Tron Legacy” star Garrett Hedlund to snatch the role! I mean he’s in the Tron sequel with Jeff Bridges!! Oh yeah the new trailer for Tron:Legacy was also released-check it out here!
More Monsters From Australia!!
I just saw the trailer to a pretty cool looking sci fi monster flick from Australia. The Dark Lurking looks like it’s got a great old school 80’s vibe to it very reminiscent of Aliens. If there’s one thing I am always down for it’s cool moster movie! In The Dark Lurking, a research station one mile beneath the Earth’s surface a horde of ravenous creatures is killing everything they see. 8 survivors are all that remain, running low on ammo, light and hope.
Chekov’s Sci fi Courtroom Drama!
Last night I watched Walter Koenig’s “Inalienable” which was just released on dvd. The story sounded quite interesting and being a big Star Trek fanatic I always give the benefit of the doubt to any of TOS’s new ventures. Written, produced and starring ol’ Chekov himself this sci fi flick actually played more like a courtroom drama.
The story is quite simple, the films star Eric Norris (Richard Hatch) is medical researcher trying to find a cure for aids and going through years of depression after feeling responsible for the death of his family in a car accident. One day a local man stops in with a strange peice of “rock” from a meteorite crash on his property and gives it to Eric to check out. We get the drift early on that this is no ordinary rock and that it holds some creepy alien life within it. Continue reading
The Walking Dead TV Series Pilot!
So the word on the street the past couple days is all about The Walking Dead! As reported by Variety it seems that the project is even closer now to hitting the small screen as AMC has greenlit a pilot!
I must say I am more than pumped by this move as the comic has got to be the best out there hitting the shelves. I have made comparisons to people of The Walking dead being the comic book equivalent to “LOST” as once you start reading you just can’t stop. I am pretty sure that this show is going to be absolutely huge as there has never ever been a show like it. Plus having just recently rewatched “The Mist” which Frank Darabont directed as well this news seems that much more exciting. Having him directing is going to make this show pretty amazing. Let’s face it the creatures in The Mist looked pretty bad, but the way he handled the human interaction was brilliant and exactly what a show like The Walking Dead needs. This is what was recently reported:
“THE WALKING DEAD’s road to the small screen has been a long one, but so far it’s looking like the best of all worlds,” creator and writer Robert Kirkman said. Continue reading
Creatures in the Clouds?
I just saw this cool trailer for an upcoming horror movie called Altitude. It’s dirtected by Marvel comics vet Kaare Andrews and looks like a pretty exciting little movie. Check out the synopsis:
“Lost in a mysterious cloudbank, a rookie pilot and her four teenage friends must contend with a freak mechanical failure that first sends their small plane climbing to an impossible height, and then plummeting through endless mist.
After regaining control, the survivors are confronted with a horrifying realization – the very ground beneath them has vanished and a malevolent force lurking in the clouds wants them dead.”
Revisting Maximum Overdrive: Stephen King’s one time stint!
Over the holidays I picked up one of those double feature dvds at yes you guessed it…..Walmart. Though it doen’t make me a proud man to shop there there’s really not much of a choice when you’re in northern Florida visiting with your family over Christmas! Anyway it was a good deal, what can I say, two movies for five bucks! One of them being Maximum Overdrive and other Raw Deal starring Arnold Schwarzennger both 80’s classics nonetheless. So how could I turn that combo down for a measely five bones?
Though I am a big fan of old Arnold flicks what really sold me was Maximum Overdrive! Continue reading
