The Hulk & Spider-man busy doing some loggin’!
This commercial is just so rad. The Giant Megos were so damn cool I had both Spider-man and the Hulk! In fact as I am typing this I am looking at my giant Hulk Mego I still own from being a little kid. He is missing his torn white shirt (that’s ok the Hulk never sported a white shirt in the comics anyway) but luckily still has those snazzy purple trousers intact. Anyway this particular toy gave me years of fun and was one of my all time favorites. Seeing this commercial brought back some memories of being a kid back when life was a lot less stressful and filled with magic. I will tell you however that when i played with the Hulk he didn’t walk around helping Spidey carry logs in the woods-no way he was kicking major toy action figure ass!! check this out:
Brigitte Neilson almost hulked out!!
I am not sure what made me think of this but I remembered seeing some pics in the late 80’s maybe in Star Log Magazine of Brigitte Neilson (Red Sonja-hell yeah!!) posing as She-Hulk for a possible movie! So I did a little searching online and sure enough I found the pic. I am kinda bummed that they never filmed it because I have a feeling that it would have been watched at our last “Bad Movie Night” with a pretty good response. It sounds like a good idea doesn’t it? The amazonian bombshell Neilson as the Sensational She-Hulk? Well here’s proof that comic books usually don’t translate well into live action movies…

Neilson as SHE-HULK. Wait isn’t She-Hulk supposed to be green?
The Marvel Alphabet of Shame
Any fan of obscure Marvel characters has to check out this amazing A-Z list of Marvel’s most shameful creations brought to you by Jared Hindman and found here:
http://www.headinjurytheater.com/alphabetmarvel.htm
Some of the highlights:
-D is for Dyke. Yes, there is a real Marvel villainess by this name.
-F is for Fatman. He’s aussie!
-J is for Jihad, created in late 2001.
-O is for the Orifice. You have to check this one out.
And my favorite…
Voodoo Phone!

Plus all those other letters that make up the alphabet, beautiful illustrations of each as well as some official Marvel backstory. Check it out and get your lame on!
The Beyonder’s greatest moments…
In case anyone was wondering that dude at the top of our page is “The Beyonder” from “Secret Wars II” from the 80’s. He has gotta be one of Marvel’s Lamest villains ever (though I think Dylan who also posts here may strongly disagree). He was considered the most powerful alien being in the universe. But in the comics when he first came to earth he was really confused about alot of shit we do here. For a short period upon arriving to Earth he took on the physical appearance of Steve Rogers (Captain America) and and shortly thereafter as the Michael Jackson style character seen at the top of our page. As you can see in the panel below he’s completely clueless as he harasses Peter Parker in an elevator!! Check out one of his many “Why Is?” moments!

Back Issue Gold/Rant: The Thing #3
One of the all-time greatest comics written was written by John Byrne. Although now, Byrne is a crotchety guy who probably doesn’t think much about this issue, but The Thing #3 is one of the most moving and important comics of it’s time. Any Fantastic Four or Inhumans fan is probably a little in-love with the dog-like character Lockjaw, whose powers allow him to teleport himself and others to great distances. In issue #3 of The Thing, Byrne shocked fans by having Lockjaw speak for the first time, in a very poignant way by addressing Quicksilver’s predjudices. This was a truly moving issue, check out the scene here:
HOMETOWN SUPERHEROES: WISCONSIN STYLE!!
So I was wondering which superheroes were from my hometown state: Wisconsin. Believe me it’s not all farms, cheese and beer there. There is CRIME there and they do need superheroes too! There were a few i knew of and then a couple more that i discovered today. Here’s what i gathered from just a a couple minutes online and looking at my official Handbooks of the Marvel Universe. This will be part one because i know there just HAS to be more heroes and villains from America’s Dairyland. Also if anyone else has some of their own Hometown Superheroes please post them here! Anyway check these bad ass, spandex wearin’, beer drinkin’, Green Bay Packer lovin’, “Cheese Heads” out:
THE BADGER
I have always LOVED the Badger!! He’s from Madison Wisconsin, completey mentally derranged, loves to drink beer, calls everyone “Larry” no matter what their real name is, has martial arts skills that’d make Bruce Lee envious and lives in a castle with his Wizard buddy named “Ham”. This guys is one of Wisconsin’s finest go hunt down his books now! Continue reading
that great black super hero!
Hey what i wouldn’t give to have all these Megos! Check out out the little blurbs they say about each of them and how the Falcon is simply “that great black super hero”. It’s funny that “Tarzan of the Apes” is for some reason included here and that The Thing’s clothing (which isn’t even the same color as his head) is actually his rock body! Another thing that’s pretty weird is that the narrator seems to think Mr. Fantastic has the power of invisibility too!? Oh yeah check out Conan the Barbarians afro too-dope! Either way you spin it these are probably the coolest action figures of all time…
HULK VS. Dvd: marvel animated finally gets it right!
Last night i watched the brand spankin’ new “HULK Vs.” dvd last night that i got for my birthday on Monday night and i must say it was exellent. There are two movies on here the first is Hulk Vs. Wolverine which was the by far best of the two. This has easily got to be the coolest superhero cartoon i have ever seen! Finally some decent animation by Marvel since the Ultimate Avengers movies i was really starting to wonder if these new animated features would really be worth the time to view. The answer is YES. In this feature Wolverine and the Hulk go at it with no holds barred. Ultra violent, action packed and bloody (yes Wolverine not only uses his claws to stab people but unlike all 3 live action X-men films they actually bleed), it looks like marvel is taking a step in the right direction here.

This is why Wings are > The Beatles
Here’s a pretty rad video to go with Wings’ classic “Magneto & Titanium Man” using footage from several Marvel television shows:
I love Wings, and the last few weeks have brought out my latent love for Spider-Man. It’s absolutely amazing that Paul and Co. sat down and wrote a love song (loosely) from Spidey’s point of view. And kudos to whoever assembled this fantastic video – you are my flavor-of-the-week!
Who’s Ready for 3.75″ Marvel Universe Figures?
Though it’s old news to many in the toy-collecting community, I am more excited than ever to spend my money on the upcoming line of Marvel Universe Action Figures: 3.75″ Style!!
Even at $8 a pop, this is like a dream come true. I Can’t wait until Iron Man meets C-3P0, or Nick Fury focuses his good eye on old Snake Eyes. Seriously, Star Wars, Marvel Comics and G.I. Joe now all in the same scale, produced by the same company?! This is like dying and then getting the 40 virgins.
