Gettin’ Down with Watership Down
Any attempt I can get, I love to relive the cartoons and movies of my childhood. In this particular case, it occurred to me…what about that movie Watership Down? I am sure many of the loyal readers are familiar but are most likely in the same position I found myself…I remember that movie, I remember rabbits fighting…lots of blood, it being very confusing…and very dark. Well, I sat down the other night and watched the classic again and I highly recommend that all the readers, if you have not seen this recently, take the time…it is a classic story for a reason.
Power…Courage…A Prerequisite for the Spiral Zone!
Growing up there were so many cool cartoons. One that always caught this Dorks attention, and remains one of the lesser followed/known is the Spiral Zone. Airing in 1987-88, Spiral Zone was the Trademarked to Tonka toys and ran for 65 episodes. In the end, the series was a financial flop on the part of Tonka, so it appeared they never wanted the light of day to shine upon this great creation ever again. Until recently, the only episodes available for viewing was a small collection of 6 episodes released on VHS by Tonka. Well one man’s love for the series and his shear tenacity shined through to provide a new 8 disc DVD set collecting all of the original episodes!

Mentally challenged magneto defeated….by a wooden gun!!
Yes! Mentally Challenged Magneto is BACK! Yeah he’s back alright and more mentally challenged than ever! This scene occurs near the end of the “Menace of Magneto” Fantastic Four cartoon. After a very un-epic battle with Reed Richards a gun is pulled on Magneto. Yeah ol’ Magneto is still really into talking in third person and narrating what he is going to doing in battle before he does it to his enemies! The clencher here is when Magneto learns he cannot control the gun that is pointed at him! He immediately assumes that all his magnetic power is lost for good-and admits he basically is a total hack with out it! Then when Richards tells him that the gun is made of wood & Magneto CONTINUES to give up surrendering to the police rather than kicking some major ass with his magnetic powers! The best line is at the very end as Magneto is taken away by the police as he admits defeat! What are you waiting for? Go hunt down this epic cartoon already!!
Mentally challenged magneto!!!
Here we have perhaps the greatest cartoon of all time!! The Menace of Magneto!! This episode from the Fantastic Four series w/ Herbie the Robot is one of my all time favorites. I own this on VHS and have watched this, shown it to friends a million times and it NEVER disappoints! There is clearly something very wrong with Magneto on this particular afternoon! The first clue is that damn ridiculous car he’s driving around!! Is that the best he could do for a vehicle?!
The Incredible Hulk cartoon from the 80’s!
Last week saturday I talked about how much I missed the ‘Spider-man and His Amazing Friends’ cartoon from the 80’s. Well shortly there after they added a solo ‘Incredible Hulk’ cartoon to the Marvel power hour on saturday mornings! I was so PUMPED! It was like a dream come true! This one season Hulk show was one of my all time favorites. Recently I bought a bootleg of the whole season at a comic convention and it’s just as good as it was back then. Here’s the opening to this classic cartoon. If you search around on youtube you can find the full episodes!!!
SPIDER-MAN AND HIS AMAZING FRIENDS ARE TRUELY MISSED…
It’s saturday and when I woke up I wished was a kid again in the 80’s waking up and watching my favorite show, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends! I loved that show more than life itself it seemed. So I got on to youtube and watched some episodes! It’s no wonder I loved it so much back then because it still totally rules! This clip is from one of my favorite episodes- “The X-Men Adventure”. You can imagine how blown away I was as a comic book collector as a kid to see the X-Men animated starring alongside Spider-Man!! Their choice of X-men was really awesome as well-they used Thunderbird! How cool is that?! And they let Spider-Man try out the danger room! check this out!
