The Scariest Movie Of all time?
I have recently been hearing alot of hype behind one particular movie, “Paranormal Activity”. This movie has been dubbed by Bloodydigusting.com as “the scariest movie of all time”. That is a bold statement coming from one of the best horror/sci-fi websites around! Many more as well are praising this movie and I, being a big fan of a good ghost flick can’t wait to see if it lives up to all the hype!

It’s Saturday Night-time for a good monster movie!
Sometimes I wish I was back in the 80’s when life seemed a little simpler and the horror movies were still fun! There’s just something special about a good 80’s monster movie. There sure are plenty of them too but there’s alot that fall between the cracks and remain forgotten by most. The Unnamable from 1988 is one of those cool ass monster movies of yore that I speak of! Sure it’s cheezy and there’s a bunch of dumb teens that their asses served to them by a wicked female monster! I must say though I think the creature effects are pretty awesome and monster is pretty frightening.

Dancing Demons and Death Metal, A Match Made in Hell!
Nothing tops the sweet sounds of a good heart jolting death metal tune, and it is hard to beat awesome b-horror movie action. So why not combine the two into what should be the ultimate culmination of sight and sound. I guess that is my ideal experience. Not sure if there are any dorks out there that agree…well, I take that back, there have to be a couple. More specifically, how about Brian Trenchard-Smith and his magnificent creation Night of the Demons 2! If you want to see a classic horror movie with a touch of some metal, please read on and also watch an uber classic scene from Night of the Demons 2 featuring Morbid Angel!

Pandorum: A Creature Flick I can get behind!
I am pretty pumped about the upcoming sci-fi horror movie entitled “Pandorum” out Sept. 25th. I love a good sci-fi movie but what I love more is a cool ass monster! So far from this newly released clip of the monster in that movie it looks pretty promising. Not being a fan of CG monsters (sorry Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus) it appears as if in this clip we may have a much more organic feel to the movie’s creature. Check it out:
Silver and Swamp Thing in 3D, Just Rumors?
This dork recently learned that Joel Silver is considering a remake of Swamp Thing…yeah, in 3D. At first I threw up my arms and yelled “No! Not Joel Silver!” But then I sat back and reviewed his list of contributions over the years. After my meditation time with the list I realize there were a lot of good, a lot of bad…and some downright ugly. Here is a list that I know I have seen over the years, and my preference. Please feel free to debate!

CG Animated Horror Movies-A good idea?
I just ran across this trailer for a possibly upcoming movie called “Blood Trail”. It’s a CG animated trailer for the proposed horror film and so far I can’t decide whether or not this totally cool or really lame. I guess it reminds me a bit of the most recent “Beowolf” animated movie. I watched that as well and to this day am still unsure whether or not I liked it. I can’t decide if seeing these types of films is like watching an extended intro for an XBox game or if it’s something truely unique. I can say that at least the monsters presented in this trailer look natural in their onscreen environment. Many of the horror and sci-fi monsters onscreen today look horrible especially when they are placed in real environments along with real actors. So maybe this is not such a bad idea after all keeping these CG monsters in their CG worlds. It seems from reading all the comments this trailer recieved on it’s youtube page that almost everyone thought this looked amazing. What do you think?
They Reached The Final Destination…and the Outlook is Good
Just a warning for readers, if you expect content, character development, good dialog, and interesting plot…then wow, you came to the wrong movie. The Final Destination has none of these aspects. But if you are coming for unbelievable aligning of events that result in violent unpredictable deaths, great gore, and a guaranteed hunks of body flying past the screen every 10-15 minutes, then The Final Destination is your stop.
Rob Zombie to Reboot Again…Re-Blobbed???
Apparently Rob Zombie just can’t get enough of remaking movies. Though I have not seen Halloween II yet, the early word is not good. Now the word on the street is that Mr. Zombo has announced he is slated to direct a remake of the Blob! In an interview with Variety, Rob Zombie indicated, “My intention is not to have a big red blobby thing — that’s the first thing I want to change, that gigantic Jello-looking thing might have been scary to audiences in the 1950s, but people would laugh now.”
Personally, I thought all of the blob movies were awesome…even the lesser know little Son Of Blob directed by Larry Hagman in the 70’s. But it does raise a good question, why remake everything?? The 1988 version of the blob was excellent for the time and is still one of my favorite horror movies. So Rob, why not just continue on with that story line and continue the germ warfare gone amuck idea in a Blob returns. I guess Rob Zombie has already begun writing the script and production on the film will begin spring 2010. The budget is expected to be around $30 million. That seem small in the days where James Carmeron just announced that Avatar was going to rack up some $450 million, but lets not forget that District 9 was made of this small token of Hollywood dough.
A closer look at “surrogates”!
I ran across this cool featurette on Youtube about the upcoming movie starring Bruce Willis called “The Surrogates”. It is based on the awesome Sci-Fi comic book of the same name that came out a few years back. So far this adaptation looks pretty promising and true to it’s source material. You can find this comic in trade form so if you have not checked this out yet I highly advise you do so. I think it says alot about our current society and how with all the technology out there today many of us are not truely living our lives anymore. We rely on our cell phones, video games and the internet as substitutes for real experiences. This movie and comic book pushes that idea alot further along to what our society someday could look like check this out…
Mega vs. Giant vs. me Arse! WTF?
Just when you think the world has see ever large animal/beast film in CG, someone still has to push the limit and make one more. Seriously, who is watching this crap? Oh wait…the Syfy channel needs another new movie of their Saturday night line up, that’s who. Come on, didn’t we learn anything from Anacondas and Pythons, and let’s not forget Anaconda vs. Pythons!
