Cartoons Dorks Should Be Watching #1: Ben 10
Thanks for joining Universal Dork for issue #1 of our ‘toons you should sure as hell be watching. For this kick off I want to mention a ’toon that is popular with kids but I quickly overlooked. Fortunately, I am a big enough dork to watch any cartoon I can get my eyes on while working out early in the morning. Well I was blessed to have repeats of Ben 10 showing at the crack of down while sweating it up…and I found it was full of many pleasant surprises. As usual, I encourage you to follow the jump for all of the essential information and this unlikely superhero youth!

Here we go…
Global Frequency TV Show Planned for the CW…5 Years Overdue!
Back in 2004, there was an announcement for the ultra awesome limited comic series Global Frequency to be adapted into a TV miniseries. Life could not get any better, right? They even cut a pilot for the WB…and the fans loved it…the studio shit on it! WTF? Oh yeah, they probably had a reality show that was a priority, or maybe something to remake. So it went nowhere unfortunately, but now there are rumblings again that the Frequency will be created and broadcast on the CW. Whoa yeah! So if you are a comic fan…a Warren Ellis fan…or hell, you just like amazing sci-fi stories, I believe this Global Frequency is on your wavelength.

Your pantz full of a load over this? Me too! More details after the jump…

Star Trek Cell Phone Bling…The Future In Our Hands!
Let me guess, there are a lot of Universal Dork followers out there that wish that just a tiny bit…a smidge of the technology we see in sci-fi movies/shows would be real. From teleportation to phasers, or warp speed to food replication…I always thought that Star Trek was one of the most innovative and inspiring shows that pushed the limits with technology…but for some reason you knew it could be real someday.
Well there have been announcements on teleporting photos across a room…cool, but a long way to go till we get to something bigger. May theorists have bought into Warp speed…but again it looks great in the math and on paper. Well wait no more, because now you too can have a Star Trek communicator that works with your cell phone via Bluetooth! All home made, and of course, classic Star Trek style as well, with the flip top and everything.

Forget Vampires…More Werewolves!
Historically, and most notably in the last couple years, Vampires have been ruling the roost of the classic horror style monsters. From Nosferatu, through the Anne Rice years, and now with True Blood and Twinkle…or Tinkle…or Twilight…(whatever that lame ass 16 year old girl popular vamp series is!!) these blood suckers are just about as popular as Zombies. Don’t get me wrong, there are uber vamp movies out there that I consider bright spots (Blade, Near Dark, and Fright Night). But let’s loose these sad Goth night lovers and I hope I see a new revival of the classic Werewolf! Early 2010 looks to be bringing these furry cursed friends to the big screen in a new and classic way.
Walking Dead Tv Series: Mtv Exclusive Kirkman Interview!
I just read an interview with Robert Kirkman on The Walking Dead Tv series today at Mtv.com. I am really hoping they can pull the grit from the comic book onto the tv screen. It’s obviously a major concern of many people. Even though in the interveiw Kirkman claims the comic book does not rely on gore it still should be noted that he pushes the limit far beyond what’s normally seen on television in the series.

Either way I am pumped to see how well this show turns out & here is some of what Mtv had to report in the interview:
The Hulk-Out list: David Banner’s Series of Unfortunate Events!!
After putting the Youtube video up yesterday about David Banner in rush hour traffic I thought it would be cool to show you an entire list of ways that he “Hulked Out” in the original live action Tv show from the 70’s starring Bill Bixby & Lou Ferrigno. This list was compiled by Kenneth Johnson the creator of that very series and many other awesome Sci-fi shows like V, Alien Nation and the Bionic Woman. check out his website here at http://kennethjohnson.us/

Here are all the ways listed, and man I am glad my life is no where as unpredictable as Banner’s from the tv show-it’s really unbelievable the luck this poor guy had. Check this video out and then the FULL list of Banner’s crazy consistent bad luck! Continue reading
