Terror in the Outback: ‘FORTRESS’ is 1980s Ozploitation Perfection!

Today we cover one the coolest 1980s Aussie films around that deserves WAY more praise here in the the USA! Yeah- the relatively forgotten genre mash up, FORTRESS from 1985, hits ALL the right beats and features the beautiful Rachel Ward in one of the her finest roles. Part action, part adventure, part kids in danger “Amblin” style & part horror film, this one’s filled with twists and turns & features one of my favorite shocker endings of 1980s cult cinema! Trapped on VHS and just waiting to be cleaned up for fancy ass blu ray-we’re going to the “land down under” to talk about it all today!

Hong Hong’s Most Outrageous 90s Kung Fu Horror Sex Comedy?!

The most bizarre genre mash up of all time comes straight out of Hong Kong where we see Lam Ching Ying AKA “Mr. Vampire” embark on one of his wildest adventures of his whole damn career as an ass kicking ghostbuster! The Wizard’s Curse from 1992 is a film that you will blow your undies right off your heiny and get you in the mood for love and supernatural martial arts mayhem! One of my favorite Hong Kong horror comedies of all time gets sexy and needs a blu ray badly!! Check this bonkers highly under-seen gem out!!

Vinegar Syndrome Blu Review: ‘THE SEVENTH CURSE’ One of the Craziest 80’s Horror Films!

Today we take look at the latest awesome Vinegar Syndrome double feature Hong Kong horror blu ray of THE SEVENTH CURSE & WITCH FROM NEPAL! One of the craziest horror flicks of all time from the director of RIKI-OH: THE STORY OF RICKY. More insane than EVIL DEAD II and as gory and gross as Peter Jacksons ‘DEAD ALIVE”. But that’s just for starters we also cover some upcoming and classic Hong Kong horrors that are soon to be released on blu ray here in the US. So let’s get into the best era of horror from the far east straight out of the 1980s!

EVOLVER: The Forgotten Killer A.I. Robot of the 90s!!!

Today we talk about sci-fi killer robot teen horror romp EVOLVER! The spiritual sequel IMO to the 1980s evil robot terror of CHOPPING MALL! Yes the director of The House on Sorority Row from 1982 delivers one of the most forgotten and best killer robot flicks of the 90s! EVOLVER is one mean little tin can that captures the best aspects of machine mayhem in this totally def flick from 1995!!!

Today we take a closer look at “dumbed down on purpose” streaming content, the upcoming ‘FANTASTIC FOUR: First Steps’ film & the state of the MCU & modern comic books from the perspective of an old WASHED UP Marvel Comics collector! All from my bedroom! PLUS more ideas on where the MCU should go if they wanna get the approval of us old nerds of the 1980s who collected comic books and were picked on for it when it WASN’T COOL!

The Director of The HITCHER (1986) Returned to the Road Horror Genre in the 2000s with HIGHWAYMEN!!

Today I tackle the largely forgotten 2004 road rage horror of HIGHWAYMEN! In the 2000’s Robert Harmon, director of THE HITCHER (1986) returned to the horror genre to deliver more of his signature “road terror” with this largely forgotten film that I feel deserves to be talked about a LOT more. Features Jim “Jesus” Caviezal and Rhona Mitra in a fight against a psychotic serial killer who stalks random people using his old beat up demonic looking car as his murder weapon. The most URGENT car chases ensue in a tale of road revenge delivered by the master of the genre himself!

Today I cover this unique little gem from simpler times filled with adventure and razor sharp comedy that essentially features the entire cast of PHANTASM. Yes this sweet under seen 70s cult classic was also the inspiration to Coscarelli to craft his iconic horror franchise. Check this out if you’re looking for something truly authentic from times when kids and adult alike had thicker skin and a much bigger sense of humor! Oh yeah if you haven’t already subscribe to the channel! 😘
