The NEW fREDDY krueger?
I am not sure what everyone else thinks about yet another remake of a true horror classic, A Nightmare on Elm Street, but I for one found it just a little bit more comforting when I read an article on Cinematical.com with the new rumored Freddy Krueger. The word on the street is Jackie Earle Haley, The Watchmen’s own Rorshach will be donning the green and red sweater in the remake.
Vintage footage find: Our very own Mr. Saturday playing video games!
Although most of you guys know blogger extrordinaire Mr. Saturday for his love of all things Hulk, Star Trek and D&D, you may not know that he was once a world class video gamer. He holds 1st through 6th place records on the internationally beloved old school game ‘Unreal Tournament’. Sure, every one of us has blistered our thumbs attempting to beat level 4-4, but no one played this game with such intensity as Mr. Saturday did. Unfortunately, his ferocious love for UT also led to his decade-long gaming exile. Here is some recently discovered, vintage footage of Mr. Saturday getting ready to set another UT record:
“Where the wild things are” trailer!!!
In case you haven’t seen this one yet you need to check out the trailer for the “Where the Wild Things Are” movie set to be released on October 16, 2009! You remember that feeling you got when you watched The Neverending Story for the first time? Judging by this trailer, I think that’s what this movie is going to bring to the table. It’s been quite a while since I have seen a movie that really brought that kind of magic, so I have high hopes for this one!
More “Evil dead 4” news!
Wow, there has been alot of word going around lately about “Evil Dead 4” and I for one am thrilled about it! It seems that there is a big interview with Sam Raimi coming in the May issue of Empire Magazine where he talks about new film Drag Me to Hell, Spider-Man 4 and yes Evil Dead 4! It seems like only yesterday that we all heard Sam Raimi make the announcement at Comic Con about the official news that Evil Dead 4 finally had the Green Light with the film’s popular star Bruce Campbell reprising his role as the iconic Ash once more. But what has happened since this was revealed? This is what I found out from the movies blog on Mtv.com on March 23, 2009:
For a few years now, there’s been ample talk of revising the Sami Raimi helmed “Evil Dead” franchise with star Bruce Campbell telling MTV last Spring that a 4th installment of the horror-comedy film would not feature a younger sidekick to give it more contemporary juice as many sit-coms in the past have done so to desperately revive their ailing product. Back then, only a year ago Campbell was raring to go.
Let’s not forget what Sabretooth looks like….
I know all I really do is just bitch about comic book movies! Yeah I am never quite satisfied with the decisions people make for the movie versions of my favorite comic books. I loved The Dark Knight movie this last year and Loved Heath Ledger in it. But I still don’t see him as the Joker I have known to love my entire life. Well I know everyone has seen the previews for the new “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and you know what? It looks pretty damn rad! I will probably totally love this movie but one thing I know I don’t love is the way Leiv Schrieber looks as his iconic arch nemesis “Sabretooth”.
The lost boys 3 – maybe they need to stay lost…
So from what I have heard recently online it sounds like there is going to be a “Lost Boys 3”. I am not sure if that’s good news considering how god awful the second one was. Maybe they can get it right in the third? Apparently “The Lost Boys: The Tribe” did pretty well on the direct to dvd market as I assumed it would. Director P.J Pesce slaughtered my dreams of what should have been a super rad vampire flick with both Frog Brothers and Sam Emerson (Corey Haim’s character).
Corey Feldman was the best thing about “Lost Boys: The Tribe” other wise the movie sucked like a hungry vampire. But can he save the third film as the movie’s main character?

A true classic and even though I can appreciate it for how cheezy it is it’s still hard for me to get fully behind having read the original series by Eastman & Laird in the 80’s that my older brother at the time was collecting. It’s strange that many people don’t know that at one time the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles kicked major ass. They were bad ass vigilantes that drew blood and beat the living shit out of the Shredder in the first story arc.

Brigitte Neilson almost hulked out!!
I am not sure what made me think of this but I remembered seeing some pics in the late 80’s maybe in Star Log Magazine of Brigitte Neilson (Red Sonja-hell yeah!!) posing as She-Hulk for a possible movie! So I did a little searching online and sure enough I found the pic. I am kinda bummed that they never filmed it because I have a feeling that it would have been watched at our last “Bad Movie Night” with a pretty good response. It sounds like a good idea doesn’t it? The amazonian bombshell Neilson as the Sensational She-Hulk? Well here’s proof that comic books usually don’t translate well into live action movies…

Greatest comic book themed music Videos! Power man & iron fist rap about the watchmen in the 80’s!!!!
OK this has to be seen to be beleived!! This “Watchmen” song came out in 1980’s (can this really be real?) by rap duo “Luscious C and DJ Fist”. They are dressed up as Luke “Power Man” Cage and Iron Fist as they rap about the Watchmen!! Um am i dreaming here? Am i still asleep? Why have i never seen or heard of this before? One thing is for sure-I am gonna get the scoop on these guys! Maybe they will make a comeback now that the Watchmen are all the rage? I wonder if at least Alan Moore will check this video out as a substitute for the current movie? I wonder if he approved of this song and video? Who know maybe he sings along to it secretly everyday in the shower?!! Either way this is a true treat. I can honestly say as I search for comic book themed music videos I may as well stop here as I have obviously hit the jackpot-enjoy!!
