PLEASE Reboot The League of Extraordinary Gentleman!!
It’s funny but sometimes there are certain movies I actually want to be remake or in this case rebooted. The movie at hand here is The League of Extraordinary Gentleman and if you have seen this steaming pile of shit of a movie from 2003 then you know exactly why I am starting the campaign right here at Universal Dork to get this rebooted and done the right way! So it would seem kinda weird huh since the movie was released a mere seven years ago right? Well think about how fast The Incredible Hulk was rebooted, now Spider-man and the Fantastic Four. So why not The League? Though the movie was pretty well cast Stephen Norrington still managed to totally fuck it up. God damn they even managed to get Sean Connery cast as Quartermain!
Did he ever even read the comic book? If so did he just decide to trash it on purpose with an unmemorable, generic pile of Hollywood bull shit dumbed down for the masses? The answer most likely is YES. It’s really no secret that the movie sucked the big one real hard so what I think is that we need a good director say like Zack Snyder to reboot this thing and make it the movie it should have been. It had, like the book, the potential to be a grand adventure in the same vein as Indiana Jones.
It also should have retained some of the grit of the original series Continue reading
Get Excited For the GOON!!
Wow I just recently saw the teaser trailer for the upcoming Goon Movie adaptation and it’s looking incredible!! Those of you who aren’t familiar with the Goon should check out the trade paperbacks from Dark Horse comics, they are anything but ordinary! With the fantastic artwork and macabe stories of Eric Powell this comic has got to be one of the most off the wall books I have read in years. Trust me.
Check out this rad teaser from David Fincher, starring Paul Giamatti and Clancy Brown. It looks liek this is the perfect medium for this comic to be portrayed on film-I can’t wait!!
Hi I’m Michael Cera & I Only Know How to Play One Character!!
I am not sure if you have all heard the hype on the upcoming “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World”, directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) but just today the official trailer was released. I have been pretty excited about what Mr. Wright was going to do next as his last two films were pretty damn amazing. So I just checked out the trailer for the new flick, which is based on the comic series of the same name (put out by Portland Oregon based indie comic publisher Oni Press) and I must say the trailer looks like a pretty good time! However one thing kinda urks me a bit, the fact that we have Michael Cera once again as “George Michael” in the movie!
Yeah we’ve the got the kinda shy, kinda awkward, kinda quirky Cera back again as the same damn charcter he’s played in well……EVERYTHING Continue reading
Planet Hulk: much better in the comics….
I am thrilled by the fact that Marvel and DC are releasing old school animation feature films! It’s nice that they have decided to keep that style alive and even try to recreate current comic books arcs into mini movies. The reality to this however is that they really aren’t doing the stories too much justice. Which seems to be the case again with Marvel’s newest animated movie that was released this last tuesday: Planet Hulk.
First off I must say that aside from the Hulk vs. Wolverine cartoon (which was pretty amazing) most of their animated efforts have been pretty uninspiring. The animation really is not much better than a saturday morning cartoon. Continue reading
Kick-Ass trailer finally Released!
I have been waiting for quite sometime for the KICK-ASS trailer to be released and today it finally was! So far this is looking like it could be a good movie rendition as long as they don’t skip on the grit and violence of the amazing comic book. Then again you can never really be too trusting of anything that stars Nicholas Cage these days! Check this out and let us know what you think! They got the opening scene of the comic book done pretty damn perfectly….
100 greatest comic book villains of all time? Yeah RIGHT!
It’s late and I just got done reading Ign.com’s Top 100 Comic book villains of all time. It was a good list I must say but I was extremely upset one particular villain didn’t make the cut! Seriously why was “Leaper Logan” left out?!!!

X-men Origins: Wolverine’s claws are pretty dull….
So today I decided to go check out X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I was pretty pumped I must say since I have always wanted to see Wolverine in a true gritty hack ’em slash’em onscreen adventure. Plus I have been a pretty big fan of Hugh Jackman as everybody’s fav berserker canuck! Let’s face it folks, Hugh is looking better than he ever has as this character. I’ve always had high hopes for this film since we have the perfect leading man cast as Wolverine and let’s face it it’s gotta be pretty hard to make a crappy Wolverine movie right? Well they went against all the odds and succeeded in making an ultra crap-tastic adventure!! Yes true beleivers Wolverine does indeed, well, kinda suck.

Artists that need to come back to comics!! MIKE ZECK!!
A friend and I were talking about current comic books and one of our main problems with them as of lately has been the artwork. Some of these “hot new” artists just don’t seem to be cuttin’ it these days! It seems like everyone’s drawing their comic books while watching Dragon Ball and Pokemon marathons. Don’t get me wrong there are some fantastic new artists out there but it got us to thinking….

If anyone knows how to draw the Punisher right it’s Mike Zeck… Continue reading
