Greatest comic book themed music Videos! Power man & iron fist rap about the watchmen in the 80’s!!!!

OK this has to be seen to be beleived!! This “Watchmen” song came out in 1980’s (can this really be real?) by rap duo “Luscious C and DJ Fist”. They are dressed up as Luke “Power Man” Cage and Iron Fist as they rap about the Watchmen!! Um am i dreaming here? Am i still asleep? Why have i never seen or heard of this before? One thing is for sure-I am gonna get the scoop on these guys! Maybe they will make a comeback now that the Watchmen are all the rage? I wonder if at least Alan Moore will check this video out as a substitute for the current movie? I wonder if he approved of this song and video? Who know maybe he sings along to it secretly everyday in the shower?!! Either way this is a true treat. I can honestly say as I search for comic book themed music videos I may as well stop here as I have obviously hit the jackpot-enjoy!!

$3.99 for a Red Hulk? No thanks…

The economy is bad and I will admit right now I just don’t have the money to spend on comic books like I used to. So one thing that I have been noticing is a recent jump of new comic book prices. Comics that were once $2.99 are now jumping up to $3.99 right along with the economic downfall. Pretty lame for all of us weekly comic junkies. Note that they have not added any additonal pages to the comics (maybe more ads) they have just upped the price of alot of monthly titles and from what I understand this will soon be the common price for a comic book. Let’s be realistic-it takes about ten to fifteen minutes to read a comic book. So even at $2.99 a peice I STILL thought it was a bit steep. So today I went to the comic shop to buy stuff that i missed last week. I ended up leaving with one comic, a $2.99 issue of the latest Daredevil. I browsed alot and saw a few titles I would have normally picked up but not for $3.99 an issue.

At $3.99 an issue I better NOT be gettin’ any RED in my HULK title! Continue reading

Have you seen my missing Dick?

Fans of legendary science-fiction writer Philip K. Dick may already know that a functioning android of Dick was created in 2005 by robotics wiz David Hanson for a sum of $25,000. This robot looked like Dick, had most of his novels and characteristics downloaded into it’s brain and could carry on conversations as though it was the real thing! What many don’t know (or may have forgotten by now) is that the android’s head mysteriously vanished on a flight in 2006! To this day, the head of the sci-fi writer-futurist (who often advocated freedom and compassion for robots), is out there somewhere. Today I suggest we all take a good look around us and keep our eyes peeled for any bearded sentient robot heads.

Watchmen is out today, remember the cartoon?

Hype up time.  It is on the tip of everyone’s tounge, The Watchmen is finally a full length motion picutre.  Much like other comic seires before it, The Watchmen was first explored at a television show (not many people know this).  Spiderman, X-men, even Batman were all television programs before making it to the big screen.  Do you guys remember The Watchmen Saturday morning cartoon show?

It was one of my favorites!

The Never-boring Neverending Story Video

I have to thank our local weekly paper’s music blog  (The Portland Mercury’s End Hits) for reminding me of this gem from my childhood.  I probably watched The Neverending Story about one zillion times when I was a kid.  The adventures of Atreyu (not the lame band) and Artax (and later Falcor) really boostered my imagination as a kid.  And, I think this video helped out.  It’s the guy from Kajagoogoo.  I always thought that big turtle guy looked like E.T.
