Pontypool will leave you Speechless…Literally!

So a couple nights ago I saw a movie that quite simply blew my mind! It’s rare to find a movie that can keep me interested when I start it after 1 am. Usually 30 minutes into it I’m out like a light. NOT the case with “Pontypool”, which is the name of where this movie takes place. It’s been tagged as a zombie movie, which made me at first a little reluctant to rent this new release. I mean really, do we need another zombie movie at this point? Well I am happy to say that it was much more than a zombie flick.

Forget Vampires…More Werewolves!

Historically, and most notably in the last couple years, Vampires have been ruling the roost of the classic horror style monsters. From Nosferatu, through the Anne Rice years, and now with True Blood and Twinkle…or Tinkle…or Twilight…(whatever that lame ass 16 year old girl popular vamp series is!!) these blood suckers are just about as popular as Zombies. Don’t get me wrong, there are uber vamp movies out there that I consider bright spots (Blade, Near Dark, and Fright Night). But let’s loose these sad Goth night lovers and I hope I see a new revival of the classic Werewolf! Early 2010 looks to be bringing these furry cursed friends to the big screen in a new and classic way.

The Children = Cinematic No Doz!

It was a few months ago that I posted a blog called “Four horror flicks you didn’t know you were excited for“. One of the films I featured was a movie from the UK called “The Children”. Well it finally came out this week on dvd released by Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Underground. Last night I put it in to watch around midnight and It kept me on the edge of my seat through it’s entirety. Usually when I start a movie that late there’s a good chance I’ll start to dose off and finish it the next day. Not the case here.

The Unborn…A Trip Into the Cliché!

Well, on the surface this is actually not that bad of a horror/haunting thriller. But if you are looking for something with substance and a well developed plot…look elsewhere. The Unborn (just coming to DVD) was released earlier this year, and the trailers piqued my interest a bit. Unfortunately, I did not catch it on the silver screen…so I threw ‘er on the Netflix queue and waited. Read on to learn more! Achtung! Spoiler Alert! I will be ripping on aspects of this movie that might take away from your viewing experience…although I doubt it.

Real Life Zombie weekend in oregon!

I was sitting today at work bored off my ass when I read cool article in the Willamette Week weekly paper. Apparently you can pay to live a real life zombie apocalypse for a weekend! Sounds pretty rad huh? Well this was such a great idea I can’t believe I didn’t think of it a long time ago. Apparently you can camp out in the wilderness with replica guns and live out the dream of being feasted upon by the undead right here in Oregon! It’s actually a more of a game where you of course can be turned into a zombie as well. Your gun fires bb’s and you and your team try to survive the weekend. While being hunted!

Walking Dead Tv Series: Mtv Exclusive Kirkman Interview!

I just read an interview with Robert Kirkman on The Walking Dead Tv series today at Mtv.com. I am really hoping they can pull the grit from the comic book onto the tv screen. It’s obviously a major concern of many people. Even though in the interveiw Kirkman claims the comic book does not rely on gore it still should be noted that he pushes the limit far beyond what’s normally seen on television in the series.

Either way I am pumped to see how well this show turns out & here is some of what Mtv had to report in the interview:

The Scoop On “The Lost Boys 3”!

I am a forgiving guy, I really am, all my friends can attest to this about me. That is probably the ONLY reason why I am excited and willing to give the third installment of the Lost Boys a chance. After the second movie, The Lost Boys: The Tribe, I was extremely let down and quite frankly a little bit pissed off. I firmly beleive it could have been fairly easy to write a super rad sequel to The Lost Boys. Something like the sound of the plot of  “The Lost Boys: The Thirst” which is been announced as the official title.

“REC 2” can you handle it?!

I am not sure how It is that I just found out about the sequel to the amazing spanish movie REC but all I can really say is I’m more than ready to continue the journey!! REC was the far superior original of the later well made US version “Quarantine”. It seems the original directors Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza are back  for the sequel which is great news.

“Deadgirl” will disturb you!

Last night I checked out the newly released on dvd this week horror thriller “Deadgirl”. I must say I have never seen a movie quite like this before and once you see it, it’s a surefire fact that you will never forget it. I wasn’t sure what to expect except that in the recent months I’ve heard quite a bit of hype behind this one. The story is simple yet twisted. It follows two high school problem teens named Rickie & JT as they cut class, drink beer and vandalize an old abandoned mental institution.

The Scariest Movie Of all time?

I have recently been hearing alot of hype behind one particular movie, “Paranormal Activity”. This movie has been dubbed by Bloodydigusting.com as “the scariest movie of all time”. That is a bold statement coming from one of the best horror/sci-fi websites around! Many more as well are praising this movie and I, being a big fan of a good ghost flick can’t wait to see if it lives up to all the hype!
