Spooky Encounters – Kung Fu Horror at it’s BEST!!
Last night I had the pleasure of viewing an amazing movie I had never seen before from the 80’s! Spooky Encounters was something that had sat in my online que for months until it finally arrived for me in the mail. What I saw was one of the coolest horror comedies of the 80’s! I guess for me it was so rad because I have never really seen a movie quite like it-kinda like Sam Raimi directing a kung fu movie back when he still made unique and exciting cinema ( I suppose he redeemed himself with Drag Me to Hell-but it takes alot to recover from Spider-man 3!).
It’s pretty much got all that you need, great kung fu, a great soundtrack, ghosts, kung fu zombies and Sammo Hung’s (the movie’s star) comedic genius! So much that it’s jumped to the top of my list of dvd purchases! Continue reading
Hysterical Psycho – The Best Horror Comedy Since Evil Dead 2?!!
I have been hearing alot of horror hype lately around a new indie horror flick called Hysterical Psycho directed by funny guy Dan Fogler. You may already know Fogler from his roles in Fanboys or Balls of Fury. Well now he’s in the director’s seat with what many horror sites are saying is the best horror comedy since Evil Dead 2. I just read about it again on Bloody Digusting and they too are giving it rave reviews.
From what I can tell it sounds like a pretty run of the mill Slasher Flick in premise at least taking place at a creepy motel where a hysterical psycho resides. Not sure what all the hype is really about but I checked out the trailer and it looks as if it could indeed be alot of fun! Believe me I live for a good horror comedy but the best horror comedy since Evil Dead 2? Probably not…
A Bruce-less Bubba Ho-tep Prequel Scores Scrimm!
I still am bummed that the Bubba Ho-tep prequel “Bubba Nosferatu” will not have Bruce Campbell returning as Elvis. To me it simply makes no sense at all. And what ever happened with Evil Dead 4? Raimi anounced a year ago it was going to happen. It seems if it concerns Bruce these days it’s always pretty up in the air. However Ron Perlman returning as Elvis is good enough for me I suppose.

It seems that that Bubba Nosferatu is finally getting off the ground and the good news is that horror legend Angus Scrimm will be starring as a Bela Lugosi type character who meets Elvis on the set of a vampire movie in Vegas. Continue reading
More “Evil dead 4” news!
Wow, there has been alot of word going around lately about “Evil Dead 4” and I for one am thrilled about it! It seems that there is a big interview with Sam Raimi coming in the May issue of Empire Magazine where he talks about new film Drag Me to Hell, Spider-Man 4 and yes Evil Dead 4! This is what they had to offer up on on their website about Evil dead 4 in the upcoming interview:
