“Deadgirl” will disturb you!

Last night I checked out the newly released on dvd this week horror thriller “Deadgirl”. I must say I have never seen a movie quite like this before and once you see it, it’s a surefire fact that you will never forget it. I wasn’t sure what to expect except that in the recent months I’ve heard quite a bit of hype behind this one. The story is simple yet twisted. It follows two high school problem teens named Rickie & JT as they cut class, drink beer and vandalize an old abandoned mental institution.

Full of angst they they continue to explore the basements of the institution, evading a crazy enraged dog and eventually discover a body of a a naked woman who appears to be dead covered in plastic, gagged and bound. Upon further inspection it’s clear that she’s not truely dead. That’s where things start to get very twisted. JT the bigger jackass of the two decides that instead of reporting the body that they should keep her as their own. Soon Rickie’s morals are put to test and his friendship with JT laid on the line.

I don’t want to give away too much more of what follows in this sick tale but what I will say is I can guarantee you’ve never seen anything quite like it before. I can’t really recommend this because while I was watching it I was pretty grossed out and many of it’s images refused to leave my mind as I attempted to sleep. It does all somehow morbidly come together in the end. This is no normal teen flick, but the reality of the movie is that what happens would probably not be to far off from what would truely go down in reality. That’s what really bothered me about this flick. The movie has been compared to Cronenberg’s style of directing and I must agree it’s style, story and  shots are sickly fascinating.  But if you’re not quite ready to be shocked I recommend renting something a bit easier on the brain. Deadgirl is sure to be a challenging horror classic that will be talked about for years to come….
