• It seems that everyone is losing their damn minds over the recent news that Sam Raimi is no longer directing Spider-man 4, Tobey Maguire is no longer Peter Parker and they’ve decided now to reboot the franchise entirely. Personally I’m pretty excited about this news! I think it’s definately time to give someone else a shot at Spider-man. The way I see it is it’s like a different writer and artist taking over a comic book title. The more I think about it, the more I think that these last three Spider-man movies really weren’t all that great.

I will admit I really enjoyed the first half of the first movie. I think they did a great job with his origin. Then the second half hits with a slaughter of perhaps one of the greatest super villains in comics. (more…)

  • Wow, these trailers just keep getting better and better! I cannot wait for this movie to hit theaters. To me it seems like the casting has been done to almost perfection. Anyway there’s not much more to say except that this movie is gonna kick some serious ass! Now if only they could get the next comic book issue out already!! what gives?

  • So it’s come to that time of the year again where everyone is making their top ten lists of 2009. Being a huge fan of horror movies I only thought it right to once again count the best of this last year. This last year personally seemed a little lighter on the real good ones than 2008. But there were still some pretty damn great flicks that delivered the shivers.

This list is comprised of movies released in the theater or released on dvd this last year that I personally saw. So let’s get down to business!

    10. Martyrs

Martyrs is a horror movie I wouldn’t recommend to anyone and it’s honestly the type of movie I try and steer clear of. (more…)

  • There’s a movie I have been excited for for quite sometime and recently viewing it trailer has given me even more anticipation! I am already pretty sound in my prediction that this will be the best horror comedy of  2010! “Tucker & Dale vs. Evil” is a one of a kind, completely original horror comedy. You see Tucker and Dale are hillbillies but definately not evil psychopaths. The hard thing is convincing a group of teenagers that who are headed up into the woods on a camping trip that they’re not!

It seems that all of the killer Hillbilly movies are giving them a real bad rap. Now try convincing  Tucker & Dale that they aren’t being stalked by derranged teenagers! This is what director Eli Craig had to say about the storyline in his most recent interview about the film at Bloody Disgusting: (more…)

  • Well I found that the Captain America movie can be viewed online for free! No not the new one but the old one from 1990!!! No this isn’t the best film ever, infact it kinda sucks, but it’s alot of fun anyway. It’s also quite a tough movie to track down so in the meantime while we’re all wondering who’s going to be the next movie Cap we can all take a look at the this version and see that an improvement on it shouldn’t be too hard to pull off!

Check it out here in it’s entirely!

  • Yeah I just had to post this new Kick-Ass trailer here because it looks damn amazing so far! I have to say it’s truely looking like it’s been done very true to the comic book and that’s a genuine relief. Even Nick Cage seems right on point here. And do my ears decieve me or did that 12 year old just call someone a cunt?!!!

  • Have you heard about TerrorDrome: Rise of the Boogeymen yet? It’s a new fan made fighting video game that let’s you choose your favorite horror movie icon and go head to head with in a battle to the death with another! If you thought Freddy vs. Jason was as far as it would go you’re dead wrong! This game is a true horror junkies dream. The characters you can choose to play are quite amazing to say the least!

  • I have been gearing up for quite sometime here to do a list of the Ten Best Animated Movies Ever and though I have most of my picks in mind I recently discovered two movies I desperately need to see before choosing the final ten. Now keep in mind when making this list I am not including computer animated movies like Shrek or Ice Age. I am compiling movies that were hand drawn animation. Well the other day while looking for images from Maximum Overdrive I ran across a movie poster online that brought back some memories as a child. The 1984 movie “Warriors of the Wind”….

  • Over the holidays I picked up one of those double feature dvds at yes you guessed it…..Walmart. Though it doen’t make me a proud man to shop there there’s really not much of a choice when you’re in northern Florida visiting with your family over Christmas! Anyway it was a good deal, what can I say, two movies for five bucks! One of them being Maximum Overdrive and other Raw Deal starring Arnold Schwarzennger both 80’s classics nonetheless. So how could I turn that combo down for a measely five bones?

Though I am a big fan of old Arnold flicks what really sold me was Maximum Overdrive! (more…)

  • Happy New Years!

Well here it is 2010!! Things are not nearly advanced as they were believed to be by this year in all of those sci-fi movies! Anyway This january here marks one full year of Universal Dork! I can’t believe how fast this year went and how many blogs we’ve done. I also wanted to thank everyone who checked us out here an continues too! There’s never a shortage of geeky things to report and as long as there continues to be we’ll be giving our two cents worth on them all. So now taking a deep breath that the holidays are almost completely over we can really get focused here again. Keep your eyes open for our best and worst of 2009 this week! I’d do one today but honestly typing this is a challenging right now as I am quite brain dead from last night. Also you’ll be noticing soon a new look for the site, don’t worry though the Beyonder won’t be going anywhere! Thanks again!
