• It’s sunday!! No, I have no real motivation at all since going to a party last night shakin’ my booty and drinking too much beer! So sometimes on days like this I have almost no energy to blog (that’s pretty sad) or even more so my brain is not working correctly! Sometimes on days like this I can’t think of anything cool or worthwhile to say….so I will let someone else say all of the highly intellegent stuff. Or maybe the unintellegent cheesiest movie one quotes ever. Most of these are from pretty damn popular films too. Anyway I thought this was a pretty awesome video and it’s perfect for a day like today when simply typing this is challenging enough…

  • So the word on the street the past couple days is all about The Walking Dead! As reported by Variety it seems that the project is even closer now to hitting the small screen as AMC has greenlit a pilot!

I must say I am more than pumped by this move as the comic has got to be the best out there hitting the shelves. I have made comparisons to people of The Walking dead being the comic book equivalent to “LOST” as once you start reading you just can’t stop. I am pretty sure that this show is going to be absolutely huge as there has never ever been a show like it. Plus having just recently rewatched “The Mist” which Frank Darabont directed as well this news seems that much more exciting. Having him directing is going to make this show pretty amazing. Let’s face it the creatures in The Mist looked pretty bad, but the way he handled the human interaction was brilliant and exactly what a show like The Walking Dead needs. This is what was recently reported:

“THE WALKING DEAD’s road to the small screen has been a long one, but so far it’s looking like the best of all worlds,” creator and writer Robert Kirkman said. (more…)

  • Arnold has had alot of good one liners over the years but this one has got to be one of his best from Raw Deal!

  • When I was a kid one of my favorite action figures of all time was Star War’s Wampa!! This thing was the coolest ever and I used to used him to not only fight Luke Sywalker but also He-man, the Hulk and GI Joe’s too! I think I liked him so much because he was the Star Wars version of the Yeti! I was very pleased as well when some extra Wampa footage made it into newer version. I like the Wampa so damn much I named my cat after him-I think though he actually does kinda look like a Wampa though. Anyway I saw this commercial on Youtube and just had to post it since it brought back alot of memories!

  • Today I just watched an exclusive tralier to the upcoming horror comedy The Last Lovecraft: The Relic of Cthulu at Bloody Disgusting and it looks awesome! I recently did blog about Tucker and Dale vs. Evil predicting that it would be the best horror comedy of 2010. After seeing this new trailer it looks like Tucker and Dale may have new competition! It looks like an epic horror adventure with some unlikely heroes done the right way. The story itself is pretty clever as well.  Here’s the synopsis that’s been released:

“In the film Jeff, a down on his luck office worker, finds out he is the last living relative of horror novelist H.P. Lovecraft. What he doesn’t know is that Lovecraft’s monsters are real and will soon threaten the very existence of mankind. Jeff and his best friend Charlie are forced to embark on a perilous adventure and they enlist the help of high school acquaintance, Paul, a self proclaimed Lovecraft specialist. Together the three unlikely heroes must protect an alien relic and prevent the release of an ancient evil, known as Cthulhu.”

  • Rumors are flying today as several sources like Cinematical.com and Britain’s The Sun are saying that Tobey Maguire has signed on as the lead in Guillermo del Toro’s The Hobbit!  According to Cinematical.com “AMC Entertainment blogger John Campea recently tweeted that someone close to production has leaked the same news to him. He said, “I have been personally told by a source very close to Guillermo del Toro that it’s true… Tobey Maguire IS The Hobbit.”

Though it’s not offical yet it seems to me that this could be a great choice for Bilbo. (more…)

  • I have been having a great time so far getting into The Fall of the Hulks series that Marvel has just launched. One reason in particular is their choice of  villains they’ve got teaming up against the Hulk, or should I say Banner since technically he can’t change into the Hulk anymore (that’s not going to last for long though). But aside from awesome old school villains like the Leader and Egghead appearing the one that always gets me pumped is MODOK! Yeah that’s right the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. He’s just one of those weird ass villains I think everyone adores! His involvement in the Fall of the Hulks inspired me to re-read one of my favorite Hulk storylines which transpire in issues #287-290. If you haven’t already read these I suggest you run down to your local comic shop and pick up these back issues asap! It will give you a little more insight on his hatred for the Hulk.

  • I just saw this cool trailer for an upcoming horror movie called Altitude. It’s dirtected by Marvel comics vet Kaare Andrews and looks like a pretty exciting little movie.  Check out the synopsis:

“Lost in a mysterious cloudbank, a rookie pilot and her four teenage friends must contend with a freak mechanical failure that first sends their small plane climbing to an impossible height, and then plummeting through endless mist.

After regaining control, the survivors are confronted with a horrifying realization – the very ground beneath them has vanished and a malevolent force lurking in the clouds wants them dead.”

  • Well times are tough right now financially for alot of people and I must say I have been feeling it a bit lately as well. There was a time not too long ago when I was able to go to the comic book shop and take a chance on a few new titles a week and then also get my regular titles as well. Not the case recently for me. In fact i have just started going back to comic book shop the past few weeks. Now though I am very selective on what comics I pick up and which ones I take a chance on. With many of the titles now being four bucks a pop and taking about ten minutes or under to read the small amount of content it really is time to get picky in any economy. It seemed like once the economy did get bad most comics prices jacked up even higher. I would have hoped for the reverse effect.

So what’s a guy to do about his comic book obession?! One option I have been throwing around in my head has been the digital comic book. (more…)

  • I was just reading a few back issues today preparing to do some “Back Issue Gold” blogs in the next couple days and ran across this awesome feature in the back of The THING #5 from 1983 that I totally forgot about. It’s an awesome “How to Draw the Thing” by the BEST Thing artist ever Mr. John Byrne. When I was a kid I actually used this to help draw some of the many pictures of the Thing I did. I am a huge fan of the Thing’s solo series John Byrne wrote in the 80’s and though he didn’t draw it he was kind enough to give us the scoop on how we could draw ol’ Ben Grimm correctly. So everyone get out your pencils and get ready to sketch and learn from the master-nobody can draw the Thing quite like Mr. Byrne!

You want more Byrne? Check it out!
