• Ok after my plea from my blog earlier today for someone to reveal to me and in a way reunite me with one of my all time favorite toys as a kid I got a speedy response from my friend TJ! It turns out that I was on the right track as I tried to remember the name of one of the coolest late 70’s toy monsters, Krusher!! I was searching for Crusher instead but now have found some rad images of him and a strange Youtube video as well. First off here’s what he looked like on the cover of the box he came in! What a bad ass huh?? You could deflate him and krush him up into a ball-then inflate him usuing his nifty belt!

So I thought maybe there would be a cool old school commercial up on Youtube but instead I first found this weird video of this guy playing with Krusher while Olivia Newton John’s hit song “Physical” plays in the background. (more…)

  • I am not sure what made me think about this today but I thought I needed to pay a little respect to one of the coolest toys ever-Stretch X-Ray! He appeared in 1979 as Stretch Armstrong’s most deadly enemy and man was this guy the envy of all kids including myself! He was such a hard ass with his see through “x-ray” body that you could even see all his inner organs!!

This guy was so much of an improvement on the Stretch Octopus character who I always thought was kinda a douche!! I mean check out his lame face they gave him! Some one needs too kick Stretch Octopus’ ass to the moon already!

Now it’s a no brainer obviously that Stretch X-ray was way cool but was he as cool as Stretch Monster though? I don’t think so-but I have a soft spot for any monster who resembles the Incredible Hulk’s arch enemy The Abomination. And what’s up with young Spock playing with Stretch Monster in this pic below? Ummm…AMAZING!

Thinking of Stretch Monster has also led me on a wild goose chase on the internet today desperately trying to figure out the proper name to one of my other favorite monster toys from the 80’s. This particular toy monster was green as well and infact quite similar to Stretch Monster in looks. He was probably almost 2 feet tall, green and actually kinda resembled Whiplash from the Masters of the Universe line of action figures. The cool thing about him was that you could crush him into a ball as he was filled mainly with air and then from what I remember you could inflate him back to his normal size by pulling something on his belt? Does this ring a bell for anyone?? Anyway if anyone knows what I’m talking about please let me know-it’s killing me as I’ve been searching on ebay and You Tube for commercials of this bad ass! Anyway the thought of Stretch X-Ray once again proves that vintage monsters still rule the school!!!

  • Wow I just recently saw the teaser trailer for the upcoming Goon Movie adaptation and it’s looking incredible!! Those of you who aren’t familiar with the Goon should check out the trade paperbacks from Dark Horse comics, they are anything but ordinary! With the fantastic artwork and macabe stories of Eric Powell this comic has got to be one of the most off the wall books I have read in years. Trust me.

Check out this rad teaser from David Fincher, starring Paul Giamatti and Clancy Brown. It looks liek this is the perfect medium for this comic to be portrayed on film-I can’t wait!!

  • These two new images were just released today via USA Today. I gotta say I think Thor looks pretty bad ass so far!

The Cap poster looks cool too-but I am really waiting to see what the costume is going to end up looking like!! I am pumped so far-Now we just need Edward norton back dammit!!!!

  • Ok it’s been a while since I have been blogging on here-I must admit have been slackin’ a bit but now that I am the only real blogger on here. It’s been a bit difficult keeping up the momentum since the summer has started and really kicked in here in Portland Oregon. Remember everyone, this is the only three months that we really get any real sunshine!! So yeah I have been busy soaking up the rays and enjoying the times that sometimes only summer really can seem to bring. Anyway enough about my slackness and onto bigger matters as yeah well last week friday on opening night I went to see Chris Nolan’s big summer blockbuster “Inception”.

Well what did I think ? Quite honestly it seemed to have everything going for it-Nolan writing, directing and producing a thriller about entering dreams and basically doing battle there and implanting thoughts through the night time fantasies that we all have every evening.  After the first hour I must say I was ready for an epic masterpeice. It was all set up for a crazy tripped out adventure in dreamland. The only problem was that a half hour later I was ready to snooze myself (more…)

  • WTF?!!! Oh I am sure you’ve all heard the news about Edward Norton NOT reprising his role as The Hulk in the upcoming Avengers Flick! This some sad news as now it seems as the movies are not tied together as tightly as they once were in preparation in creating a mini Marvel movie universe. I heard from the start that there were problems with Norton as he was not at all pleased with the final outcome of The Incredible Hulk as he hoped for a longer more extensive cut of the film. Then it was his high salary he demanded to repsise the role of Banner in which Marvel clearly rejected. Now we get news of some unknown actor claiming the role of Banner in the Avengers flick.

Sorry that just ain’t good enough as Norton was one of the main reasons why the film worked so well in the first place. Yeah since now we have a clearly fully CG Hulk what really matters truely is who is actually in the role of good ol’ Bruce. Hopefully they can still pull it off, though clearly the film has already now lost some major excitement as one of the key actors will not be returning.

So hopefully the rest of the gang can show up for the party! I mean what happens if Robert Downey Jr. decides HIS paycheck is not enough??? I guess really he and Samuel L. Jackson are the key players so in order to make this film truely work we have to have them back for sure! I personally am still holding out for either Norton or Marvel to change their mind. If you’re gonna do something as epic as this you gotta do it the right way!! In any event I am sure Hulk will still SMASH, just maybe not as hard….

  • God damn am I excited for the the upcoming Robert Rodriguez flick “Machete” which spawned from the faux trailers of the Grindhouse movies!!

Today the new trailer was just released so I figured it’d be a good time to post it up here. It’s got some amazing people starring in it and looks like it should have been the third feature in the Grindhouse double feature that Rodriguez and Taratino released a few years back. I have been pumped ever since I heard that this movie was actually happening and what’s even more exciting is seeing the return of Steven Seagal to the big screen!!

  • Ok I just ran into an awesome exclusive on set visit to the Walking Dead Tv series over at Bloody-Disgusting check it out here for the scoop on what’s happening with this highly anticipated zombie epic!! It’s sounding liek it’s shaping up to be the best series ever and the only one of it’s kind! Below is yet another new still of one of the zombies appearing on the show-I must say these zombies are some of the best I’ve seen. I just wanted to make sure no of you miss any dirt on this one…

  • So here’s another little reminder that there are some seriously shitty villains out there in the comic book universe! Every now and then we need to give a little shout out to these guys in hopes that just maybe we’ll see their pathetic hides grace the pages of our current comic book titles. I mean who wouldn’t want to see a villain like Gaard appear in a current issue of the Fantastic Four or the Avengers?? What? You don’t know who Gaard is?? Have you been living in an icy cave with Spock for the 35 years?

Gaard is perhaps the most crap-tastic villain to ever grace the pages of Marvel comics!! He appeared in Fantastic Four #163 in 1975 and boy does he suck!  (more…)

  • I just recently acquired a copy of the 80’s action flick “Eye of the Tiger” starring our main overacting king of cinema Gary Busy!! I must say it seems that back in 1986 they were looking for the new Stallone and someone apparently thought that guy was Gary Busey. Good that they did cuz Busey is turbo charged in this action flick as an ex-Vietnam has is hard vet whose wife and kid gets killed by a crazed group of bikers hell bent on complete mayhem where ever they go.

Yes that means when they’re pissed at you they are going to ride their motorcyles straight into your house through the windows! Hell they even smash through solid walls on their bikes! Well to make a long story short just track this down yourself to see Busey as ultra bad ass Buck Matthews as he takes care of some serious business in a way only he can…did I mention that Eye of the Tiger is actually the movie’s theme song? How can you go wrong?!
