    What? You’ve never seen “The Day of the Beast” before? I recently rewatched this awesome quirky spanish horror comedy and it was just as good as the first time! This movie from 1995 was directed by Alex De La Iglesia and is just a plain fun as hell time. The plot is simple. Father Cura discovers that the antichrist will be born on Christmas Eve and sets out on a mission to stop it it from happening. He also decides that in order to make contact and become closer with the devil he must commit as many sins as he can within the next 24 hours . But this priest can’t do it alone. He employs the help of a self proclaimed satan worshipin’ death metal head record store clerk named Jose Maria and the dark sleezy tv psychic guru named Cavan.

  • John Ritter really was a real life jack tripper!

    Three’s Company was my favorite Sitcom ever! John Ritter was a comic genius hands down! So check out this appearance  he made on the dating game in 1967 before he was anyone in the world of comedy. John you are still truely missed!

  • Marvel comics: New owners of Marvelman!!

    Joe Quesada has just announced that one of the most beloved and controversial characters in comic history has been acquired by Marvel, Mick Anglo’s Marvelman (aka Miracleman). Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman had runs on this character that have since become legendary within the industry. The legal battle over the publishing rights has been long and very public but apparently it has ended today, likely meaning that the original runs of the character will be reprinted! Check out this newly released image by Quesada:

  • Castlevania the Movie!

    Let me first start of by saying that Castlevania was probably the BEST game EVER for the  NES! There were obviously some other really good ones but I will have to say this game pretty much blew my damn mind as a kid! I was the first one to beat the damn game too of any kid or teen in my whole neighborhood! My friend Dave Park (My NES partner in crime back then) and I liked it sooo much that when I beat it we were recording the final battle I had with Dracula on a VHS tape! Yeah you could do that back then. I almost lost my mind when I beat Dracula and then he suddenly turned into that HUGE white demon-then I had to kick it’s ass too! Anyway you can tell it was pretty epic for me and I still think I am some kinda video game hotshot still because of that.

    Well it turns out that they are making a “Castlevania” movie now. I am not sure about you but I don’t think that video game movies have ever turned out that good. I guess Resident Evil had some promise but really these movies end up to be clunkers. Unless this movie has all the camera angles from the side view and all the bosses from the original game it just might as well not be made! The Simon Belmont  better have a whip, some crosses and big jugs of  holy water to toss too.  Ok I admit maybe I am being a little too picky.

  • Prince and Morrissey ROOKIE CARDS? I love 1991 Pro Set Musicards!

    Back in the very early 90’s, an upstart sports card company was ruling the hobby. Pro Set Trading Cards Inc. started producing football cards in 1989 but by 1991, they were not only doing football, hockey, soccer and racing cards, they were also cranking out the greatest music cards of all time: MusiCards and Yo! MTV Raps.

    These cards were awesome then and they’re even more awesome now. I remember buying these up trying to get the George Michael, MC Hammer and Faith No More cards when I was a kid. Some of the other artists that you can find in these sets are Iron Maiden, Morrissey, Prince ( UK set only), Michael Jackson ( UK set only), AC/DC, John Lennon, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Hall & Oates, The Doors, Slick Rick, Digital Underground, De La Soul, Bell Biv Devoe, Janet Jackson, Public Enemy and The Clash!   • Colossus get’s wasted!

    One of my all time favorite X-men stories has got to be in issue #183 entitled “He’ll never make me cry” from 1984! The X-men aren’t in outerspace or saving humankind from Magneto’s twisted plans. This is the type of story I wish I would see more of these days in comic books. A day in the life type of story where you really get to know the characters. What it would be like if you could call up Wolverine and have him meet you at your local watering hole and drink yourselves silly together. This issue’s plot is simple Colossus, whose returned with the X-men from outerspace, dumps Kitty Pryde pretty harshly as he explains to her how he fell in love with another woman when on the most recent adventure with the team.

  • Danzig’s new version of “Mother”!

    We can all agree that today Danzig pretty much completely sucks right? He’s making some pretty awful music and refuses to give his fans what they really want-a damn Misfits reunion already!! Anyway check out this video remix of Danzig’s hit,”Mother”. Like Danzig recording the vocals after a drinking a case of beer and a few shots of whiskey, it’s pretty awesome….

  • The Undirectable Klaus Kinski!

    I recently rewatched “Crawlspace”,  the 1986 slasher classic about a derranged nazi landlord who only rents rooms to cute girls and then spies on them through heating ducts in the building. Oh yeah he also likes to torture and kill them in the attic. I remember always seeing this the cover of this movie in the video store when I was a kid and the guy’s face always freaked me out a bit. Well there was a reason for that, because the movie’s star, cult hero, Klaus Kinski was out of his damn mind!

  • Wolverine take off that stupid mask!

    Yeah check this out, Wolverine needs to take of that damn mask and put on his real one! You’d think Tom Cruise from “Eyes Wide Shut” was coming over to take him to that fancy Kubrick party with Nicole Kidman!  Sorry I had a few too many last night and this is the best I could come up with today…

  • Harry Potter as The Hobbit?

    Rumors are flying that Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe is up for the role of Bilbo Baggins.  Thank god it’s not Justin Timberlake! From what I read at The Los Angeles Times’ Hero Complex blog, he’s one of several actors being considered in Guillermo del Toro’s “Hobbit” to play the lead. James McAvoy (“Wanted”) is also apparently in the running as well.
