• HAAAAAAPPY NEW YEARS!! Wow it’s already the new years? What the hell, am I trapped in a hyper speed time warp??? Where does all this damn time go?! Oh well 2011 here we come right? Personally I was hoping by 2011 I’d be flying around on a hover board like Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future 2-but hey I’ll be happy enough with an Ipod I guess…anyway I just wanted to warn anyone who’s thinking about partyin’ to stay away from trains!

Cuz Terror Train, one of the only New Years films out there that’s worth watching proves that! Jamie Lee Curtis finds that out the hard way! So if you are in need of a good New Years Flick go rent this sucker tonight!!

  • It happens in the movies all the time, when suddenly out of no where a C list or D list actor suddenly makes the jump into a blockbuster flick somehow (like Stephen Dorff in the new Sofia Coppola flick)-well it happens in the comics too and the upcoming Wolverine: The Best There is #2 proves that! It was a while back where I profiled the ultra lame Madcap right here as one of the world’s lamest villains, a D-list character who made a few ridiculous appearances in Captain America in the 80’s using a bubble gun that drove people batty and taking on taking on Cap’s buddy Nomad several times.

Well now good ol’ Madcap is bringing his antics back in the new ultra violent Charlie Hutson penned Wolverine series. This time however it seems that Madcap is even more fucked in the head than imagined as he’s now working for Wolverine’s newest villain Contagion and from the sneek peek it appears he’s ripped out his own eyes. Since Madcap can’t feel any pain this upcoming bout proves to be an interesting one I’m pumped to check out! Who knows too maybe this will put Madcap on the map as one of Wolvie’s A-list enemies-lord knows we’ve had enough of Sabretooth! Now maybe if we can just get The Slug out of hibernation to take on Logan ??

  • So this weeks cover is one of my faves drawn by Thing artist extraordinaire Ron Wilson-I always love comic book story lines that really show superheroes on their time off. This particular issue has an amazing cover that simply shows the Thing gettin’ wasted at the local dive bar with none other than the Sandman! This was an unusual pairing at the time to have The Thing “teaming up” with a villain but it seems that after this issue in which the Sandman contemplates his life’s direction and tells his complete origin to Ben Grimm, that the two seem to have a friendship that forms that will lead them once again to drink beer together in yet another later issue (the next time will be in a hospital room). It’s simple comic book story lines that I feel are missed greatly in the comics of today-If you’re looking for a great simple and fun back issue to check out Marvel Two in One #88 from 1982-just make sure to crack open a cold one when reading!

  • I was lucky enough to see the wonderful “Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale” this holiday season, a movie I ranted alot about here before I even saw it. It will be one that I’ll be purchasing on DVD as soon as it hits stores as it’s truelty a wonderful little christmas film. Well I also discovered another movie I missed out  on this holiday season, this one however may be a while to wait to see-It’s called “Sint” and it looks pretty damn bad ass…

This one is a Dutch film direceted by Dick Maas, who’s probably most well know here for his movie “The Shaft” which starred Naomi Watts, has now decided to take on not Santa Claus but his similar companion good ol’ jolly Saint Nick (more…)

  • Geeeeezus!! I know you all must be thinking I’m so lame or got abducted by aliens or something?! Nah I have just been sooo dang busy at our new store, as we opened it officially about 10 days ago! It’s been ALOT of work and continues to be and I have been feelin’ a bit out of the loop in the nerdom real lately-well, no more I say! I’m back and gonna be hitting the blog hard again now that it’s become just a bit more manageable-So today I though the comic book cover of the week had better be festive! So I chose an awesome giant sized comic book cover to put you all into the holiday spirits!!  Anyone remember these giant sized comic books? they were sooo awesome-infact I got a few of them for christmas as a kid and took them everywhere with me!! Here’s one of the best holiday covers! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

  • I am going to start posting some of my all time favorite comic book covers right here every week. Some will be old some new but all the covers will be totally rad. This first one is a classic and I’m sure it’s on everyone’s list of greatest covers already but really this one from the 80’s can’t be posted enough. It’s during a classic storyline involving the Brood-and this cover by Mark Silvestri (X-men 234) is one of the best X-men images of all time…Stay tuned for some more well known and forgotten comic book cover classics!!

  • So I guess it could be said that the Pirates of the Carribean movies were somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me. Really I was pretty dang impressed with all three of them-least impressed with the third film. But hey I own them all on dvd. So now we finally get to see what the fourth film, which will be starting a new trilogy will be like. I must say it looks pretty damn fun. Alot of people too are complaining that Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley aren’t in this one-however that’s one of the BEST selling points for this new installment! I personally couldn’t care less about the two of them and am so glad that we don’t have to deal with their “tender love” once again in this next movie. This one look like it’s really about the pirates this time-and personally I can’t wait to get back on board…

  • Last night I had the pleasure of viewing an amazing movie I had never seen before from the 80’s! Spooky Encounters was something that had sat in my online que for months until it finally arrived for me in the mail. What I saw was one of the coolest horror comedies of the 80’s! I guess for me it was so rad because I have never really seen a movie quite like it-kinda like Sam Raimi directing a kung fu movie back when he still made unique and exciting cinema ( I suppose he redeemed himself with Drag Me to Hell-but it takes alot to recover from Spider-man 3!).

It’s pretty much got all that you need, great kung fu, a great soundtrack, ghosts, kung fu zombies and Sammo Hung’s (the movie’s star) comedic genius! So much that it’s jumped to the top of my list of dvd purchases! (more…)

  • Ladies and Gentleman I’d like you all to take a quick moment to start off your day with the catchiest song EVER written. The Gummy Bears theme song-I’d pretty much put this up against any Beatles song-Sorry Lennon-you guys were good and your songs were infectiously catchy but you had nothing on The Gummy Bears!!

  • Ok I have been noticing lately that everyone has got these fancy ass tv sets in their house that look like computer monitors. Supposedly they’re the wave of the future with their digital images and and HD precison. I’ve been watching movies and Tv shows at friend’s places on their two thousand dollar “killer ass” Tv sets and you know what? I think they SUCK! Wanna know the reason why? Well last night I was watching “Purple Rain” on one and I noticed once again that most of the movie when viewed on a Tv like that somehow seems to look like a cheezy soap opera!! Like a damn episode of “Saved By the Bell”!

It’s the strangest thing I’ve ever seen-half the movie looked like a normal movie-then suddenly a shot comes in and it looks like Prince is starring in a lost epsode of General Hospital!!! Does anyone out there know what I’m talking about?? Am I completely crazy??
