Yeah it’s fighting time again here at Universal Dork! Today we have a great cartoon fight between Superman and Solomon Grundy! This One comes from the awesome Justice League cartoon. I always enjoyed them because they were always so well animated. It kinda gets me pumped about the possibiltiy of a Justice League movie!
It’s always nice to see good ol’ Supes brawling the bad guys at least the ones who can actually put up a fight-as you can see in this epic cartoon battle Solomon Grundy is no push over!

If you have NEVER seen Fire & Ice you better run to the video store immediately or head to Netflix! This has got to be one of the coolest animated movies ever made! Created in the 80′s by Ralph Bakshi & the legendary Frank Frazetta this has got to be one of the greatest fantasy epics ever.
Amazing animation, ultra violent and full of cool monsters this cartoon will blow your mind! (more…)

Ok I admit it I just can’t seem to get enough of these 70′s Fantastic Four cartoons! They are so badly written that it has quickly become one of the most funny Tv shows I’ve ever seen! This episode features the Impossible Man who’s kinda stupid anyway but this takes him to a whole new level of lame!
Check out the beginning dialogue alone he has with the extremely brain dead bank robbers is some of the best I’ve heard in a long time. This one is already Rivaling The Menace of Magneto episode. This again is a shortened version I’d love to see it in it’s entirety. Check this out if you dare!!

I am thrilled by the fact that Marvel and DC are releasing old school animation feature films! It’s nice that they have decided to keep that style alive and even try to recreate current comic books arcs into mini movies. The reality to this however is that they really aren’t doing the stories too much justice. Which seems to be the case again with Marvel’s newest animated movie that was released this last tuesday: Planet Hulk.
First off I must say that aside from the Hulk vs. Wolverine cartoon (which was pretty amazing) most of their animated efforts have been pretty uninspiring. The animation really is not much better than a saturday morning cartoon. (more…)

This morning I ran across a fun animated short film called Tofu the Vegan Zombie! Tofu seems to be the friendliest zombie in town. That is as long as you keep that peice of tofu on his head. Otherwise he turns back into a mindless flesh eater. This is a pretty fun little cartoon and I look forward to seeing more of them in the future! Check it out:

Thanks for joining Universal Dork for issue #1 of our ‘toons you should sure as hell be watching. For this kick off I want to mention a ’toon that is popular with kids but I quickly overlooked. Fortunately, I am a big enough dork to watch any cartoon I can get my eyes on while working out early in the morning. Well I was blessed to have repeats of Ben 10 showing at the crack of down while sweating it up…and I found it was full of many pleasant surprises. As usual, I encourage you to follow the jump for all of the essential information and this unlikely superhero youth!

Here is a new running series of blogs appropriately entitled Cartoons Dorks Should be Watching! It will feature newer (within the last 5-10 yrs) cartoons that our generation might be missing. Or frankly, cartoons you might be passing off as ‘toon trash on Saturday mornings. It needs to be said that many of these cartoons have stayed focused at their primary audience…kids…so you have to enter willingly and just be a lover cartoons with great characters and stories.
