Indiana Jones 5: Anthony Ingruber as Young Indy? PLUS Indy Cartoon!
Well ‘Indiana Jones 5′ has officially wrapped on filming and we’re now in the editing phase of the movie, hoping soon to receive a trailer to the finale of the Indiana Jones franchise! I have high hopes for this final installment but i gotta be honest too, I got a mountain o’ worries as well without the original team of Lucas/Spielberg writing or directing.
I’ve heard a LOT of rumors and supposed leaks from the set and I can say from what I’ve heard I was not particularlly impressed.
Many are claiming that Indy will be passing the torch to his female assistant and time traveling to team up with a younger version of himself. Who knows exactly what’s true here I recently watched a video from “Indiana Jones Nerd” that’s claiming Anthony Inguber might be making an appearance as he was rumored on set of Indiana Jones 5?
So is this true? Probably not! Hollywood is known for making terrible decisions with their big rebooted cash cow sequel franchises. I went extendively in to my idea of how they could please fans and reboot Indiana Jones perfectly right HERE utilizing Anthony Ingruber as young Indiana Jones for the 5th installment. I think it’s a pretty solid way to do it but apparently they’ve got other plans, most likely passing the torch on to a strong female lead to continue on as the character. For the record I’m fine with that as long as it doesn’t feel forced and the story’s good. But judging from the Star Wars sequel trilogy I wouldn’t bet a got damn penny on that happening. I’m going as far to say that my gut feeling is Indiana Jones Part 5 is going to be an even bigger disappointment than The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, a movie that admittedly over the years, I think has aged quite gracefully, despite some serious problems with bad CGI fx and his son Mutt being a turn off overall for fans. Whatever the case color me intrigued and in the meantime let’s not fret too much. Take a look at this incredible animated Indiana Jones vignette from 2016 from Patrick Schoenmaker & take a moment to remember the good old days of classic Indiana Jones….
Comic Review: Quantum Teens Are Go!
I just checked out the debut issue of ‘Quantum Teens Are Go’ out now from Black Mask & as far as first issues go it’s got some pretty good things going for it. The book’s tone is super light hearted (which is a nice break form the grit) and if you’re a fan of those old 80’s teen sci-fi flicks movies like “My Science Project” you’ll likely dig this more updated take on the genre. The story starts out with a bang as our two daring teen characters are raiding a mysterious abandoned research facility in hopes of stealing something special. The place is guarded by robots and soon we see them running for their lives with their high profile stolen goods.
We soon realize the teens are anything but normal as they seem to working on some sort of odd hi-tech machine in their garage carefully adding the mysterious stolen parts to the equation. We also come to find that one of the characters named “Nat” (formerly Brandon) is transitioning to a female gender clearly with some resentment from her parents. Hey boyfriend who’s kinda like a nerdy mad scientist has been hard at work on some sort of time travel machine and his grades are suffering. He’s also got issues with his “parents” who’ve taken him in as their own as we realize something has happened to his real family for unknown reasons as of yet at least to us.
‘Quantum Teens’ has some great modern day teen issues going in the story along with of course a bully in school who’s clearly got a problem with the two and the fact that Nat was once identifying as a boy. It’s got the current atmosphere of the times, which seems to be all the rage in the comics these days fitted in with a sweet little opening to what might just might prove to be an epic time travel adventure. Only problem is they’ve reached a point in their garage based science project that’s got them stumped. So they hit the streets in search of some answers from some pesky bandits who’re in a similar business…
Hence we’re introduced to some other interesting supporting characters, one described as a poor man’s “Matthew Mcconaughey” who’s there to help the teens get their machine in working order. We’ve got a cute, bright and intriguing story set up here in the first issue that looks to be headed for some fun times. I totally dig simple stories like this that have a bit of a throwback feel to them harkening back to similar vibes like “Back to the Future”. The characters are witty, vibrant and the artwork is decent enough. Though this issue didn’t reinvent the wheel it’s a nice fast paced story so far that’s likely to put a smile on your face in these gloomy times as of late. Check it out if you’re looking for something that’s not going to depress the shit out of you!
Terminator 5: Will ‘The Rock’ Be Terminating Arnold?!
Rumors are running wild about the plot of the green lit Terminator 5 and I’m kinda liking what I’m hearing. Recently Arnold stated he’d be back for Terminator 5 starring as a T-800 and most of the response (including my own) I heard from fans was that perhaps he was a little too old to be donning the shades again. But perhaps he’s really not starring as the legendary cyborg after all, but as it was originally thought as the man whose likeness was used fr the T-800. I always thought it was the perfect way to have him back into the franchise without getting too dang cheesy.
Now the rumor is something even more different than anyone originally imagined as reported today at Ain’t it Cool. The word one the web currently is that Dwayne Johnson could be cast as the first Terminator ever / or maybe a cybernetically modified human assassin sent back this time to the 1940’s. Here’s what they heard from some uncertain sources:
“Incredibly, Schwarzenegger may not play the role of a machine in the next film, but a potentially heroic human figure in or close to the Connor family. One theory is that Schwarzenegger’s remarkable ability to protect the Connor family in the 1940s or 1950s with antiquated weaponry by today’s standards ultimately inspired the machines to develop a terminator in his likeness that was eventually sent to 1984 when Sarah Connor was first targeted for termination.”
This contradicts Arnold’s recent comments about being “The Terminator” again. To me though i am kinda liking the sound of this storyline, it wouldn’t be a rehash of any of the previous films entirely. It would tell the story of the first time they tried the time travel thing (that you’d think they’d just give up after the first few flicks) but it wouldn’t rely on getting the whole old gang back together and most of all it might actually make the rest of the movies make more sense in the way it all may have chronologically went down?
As long as we don’t have Arnold making more cracks about “being old” anymore because that shit’s getting OLD and hopefully they bring back the spirit of the first film, more of a horror sci-fi story that keeps the plot smaller & more simple. Though I like this rumor thus far, I call bullshit, I think Arnie is gonna try and play the old part again and if so I think it’s a lost cause….what do you think?
Terminator Time travel Craziness!!! someone explain this $%#@!
I just saw Terminator Salvation today and I liked it. It was a good solid action flick with some pretty rad special effects along with a suprise appearance from CG Arnold!! HA! It was definately a worthy addition to the franchise and had a cool story with a whole new outlook on the Terminator universe. But enough about that really because seeing this movie only got me even more riled up about the whole time travel aspect of this series. Bottom line-it makes no sense!! And if it does someone please enlighten my feeble mind!
My name is John Connor I was born without a father! I don’t exist! Hmm I guess then I need to send my buddy back in time to make me ASAP!!
