Comic Cover of the Week: 1970’s HULK vs The Constrictor…AGAIN!!

HULK SMASH! You BET! So one of my favorite issues of The Incredible Hulk goes way back to 1977, issue number 212 with amazing artwork by one of the Green Goliath’s best artists, Ernie Chan! This amazing one features the Hulk squaring off against one of my personal favorite villains in an unlikely encounter for the Hulk: The Constrictor! I thought it would be cool to showcase a couple alternate covers from the UK that were made especially for this particular reprint of a classic Hulk issue way back when, check these out!

I’ve always loved it when a superhero and  supervillain who’s not normally associated with them, go head to head and this is a prime example of that sort of offbeat comic book battle!

I’ve also always loved The Constrictor as a villain with his deadly adamantium coils he was actually able to give the Hulk a run for his money surprisingly in their one and only match up. I’ve always really dug the OG cover too that Ernie created. If you’re a Hulk fan def hunt down this super sweet back issue!

Comic Cover of the Week: The Hulk vs The Big Green Gamma Brain!

Today I’m showcasing one of my favorite Incredible Hulk comic book covers, issue number 224, which features an epic battle with the Jade Giant versus the biggest brain in Marvel Comics, The Leader! I’ve always loved the dynamic between these two characters being pure brute strength with minimal brain capacity and one being a total weakling with gamma spawned super intellect. I’d go as far to say that The Leader is probably my favorite villain of The Incredible Hulk. He always had to use some sort of weird robotic contraption to actually battle The Hulk head on. This cover perfectly showcases their iconic rivalry with a beautiful cover drawn by Ernie Chan from 1978! Chan is one of my all time favorite Incredible Hulk artists & this in my opinion is one of his best pieces of cover work. I’d love to see something like this scenario materialize in the MCU in an incredible Hulk solo movie sequel which is long overdue…

Comic Cover of the Week: Those Weirdo 70’s Hulk Villains!

Damn do I miss me some old school Hulk adventures! The Hulk comics will never quite be the same it seems and I don’t expect them to be I mean it’s goddamn 2017 and we’ve now got “Totally Awesome Hulk” instead. That’s fine, but long gone are the days of the crazy old school sci-fi superhero adventures of the Jade Giant. I just love the look of these old vintage covers and Incredible Hulk #213 from 1977 capture exactly the vibe I’m referring to. I mean, hell, how awesome is The Quintronic Man?! What a classic weirdo Hulk villain. I love this era of Hulk comics where you’d just be super stoked to see the Hulk’s next big brawl as some super powered mad scientists pester him into a total rage. A total classic cover by Rich Buckler and Ernie Chan! Oh those were the days!!

Comic Book Cover of the Week: Conan The Barbarian Hits the NYC Streets?!

What If was one of the coolest Marvel Comic books ever, it was kinda like a weird ass Twilight Zone episode starring your favorite characters! This cover here to What If #13 is a personal favorite and it wouldn’t be the last time Conan grazed the pages of this particular title. He’d go on to face off with the likes of Thor and Wolverine as well here. But this at the time was a trippy idea-what if Conan walked the Earth today? You just know that he’d get into some major shit as it clearly shows by the situation arising on the cover here. This was way back in 1978(notice the Star Wars poster in the  background!) and this cover was beautifully drawn by John Buscema and Ernie Chan! A true classic!!

Comic Book Cover of the Week!

I don’t know how many times I have to say it but I LOVE the Hulk!! This weeks comic book cover of the week is way back from Incredible Hulk #212 from 1977. This bad ass cover was drawn by Rich Buckler and Ernie Chan and features one of my favorite villains of all time-The Constrictor! He goes on even today in current comics to brag about how he once “went one on one with the Hulk”, well this is the battle he’s talking about. Actually though I must say the Hulk serves the Constrictor’s ass to him on platter pretty quickly. Still folks it just doesn’t get any better than this and to believe that this issue cost a mere 3o cents? Damn those were the days!! This issue is a must have if you’re looking for a great old school Marvel adventure and it’s got one killer cover…
