Yesterday there was a brand spankin’ new image of The Hulk released to the public for the upcoming Avengers movie. I must admit it’s the best most realistic looking one yet but to really be certain it’s perfect we’ll have to see this once again entirely computer generated character in the flesh or um…pixels or whatever it is on screen moving around with living breathing real human beings. Lets face it the last two Hulks were pretty piss poor and personally I rather see Lou Ferrigno back with the ripped jeans and green paint than more of this poorly done cg. However this still shot of the Hulk does look pretty dang nice and I am willing to keep an open optimistic mind about ol’ Jade Jaws until I see it for real. Lets though take a look at all three of these cg fakers and see if the new image actually holds up…
First the Ang Lee CG “dumb jock football player” Hulk…
Verdict: Wow this one looks even worse than I remember! What is that live action Shrek doing onscreen with Jennifer Connelly?! Did George Lucas do this cg version of The Hulk on his lunch break?! This one has GOT to be one of the worst cg charcters of all time!!
Second we have the Ed Norton “totally ripped” Hulk…
The verdict: This one actually looked pretty good….as long as there weren’t any real human beings on screen with him! This one at least got the look and spirit of The Hulk correct. Plus he wasn’t twenty five feet tall like the “Jolly Green Giant” Hulk that Ang Lee gave us. Still this version of The Hulk was to me quite a disappontment.
Lastly we’ve got a newly released shot of the “Joss Whedon can do no wrong” Hulk…
Verdict: This one is hands down the most realistic looking one yet but that don’t mean squat til we see him standing next to Robert Downey Jr. I am willing to bet this one could win the prize, but if it doesn’t well three strikes and you’re out CG Hulk!! With that said we still have the Guillermo De Toro Hulk to look forward to and I am sure that one will deliver the goods…

Here we are one step closer to journeying back to Middle Earth! I can’t wait…And
in case you missed the reveal yesterday’s dwarves here they are again..

Well no actually, but wouldn’t that be awesome?!? It occured to me last night as I threw in Wes “Scre4m” Craven’s Swamp Thing last night before I hit the sack that there are some movies that I’d welcome a remake for provided they have the right director attached-Swamp thing is one such movie.
That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy the ridiculous vibe of the original Swamp thing or even the more campy (if you can believe that) Swamp Thing 2 (more…)

I can’t say I didn’t see it coming, today as it was announced that Darren Aronofsky would no longer be directing “The Wolverine”, a stand alone movie that would have had nothing to do (thank god) with the first Wolverine movie. According to Aronofsky the movie would keep him away from his family for far too long-though many are saying it was due to not having enough creative control over the movie. Either way there you have it-finally something exciting was geared up to go down with the character, something dark and dare I say actually intellectually engaging?
Well now that Darren is off to do something more artsy I’m sure we’re gearing up to get more of the same bullshit that we got served with that last film…ughhh. I really had high hopes for a dark Wolverine movie done the way the character deserves. Apparently the show will go on with another director with Jackman still set to play Wolverine.
Now the question is who will they get to take a stab at Wolvie? Your guess is as good as mine, it seems to me it’d better be someone who actually gives a damn and isn’t just trying to serve up another load of shit to force feed the masses- Chris Nolan, Guillermo de Toro hell I’d even take Zack Snyder! But it seems they’re all busy with other projects….um Bryan Singer we need you now more than ever!! in the mean time check this out-it’s actually a lot better than the last Wolverine movie…not bad for a fun fan boy film actually-maybe we should just give up and give this guy the job…

I just stumbled upon and interview/article that’s got everything you need to know about the master of monsters, Guillermo Del Toro! I have to say I pretty much worship the guy and love just about every movie he’s made or even produced for that matter (minus Splice).
In this interview you get the scoop on what makes this guy tick, just why he LOVES monsters so much, his upcoming projects (no Hulk news yet though) and what his plans were for the Hobbit. Anyway I am crossing my fingers too for a Hellboy 3 but still no word-in the mean time check this interview out here!
In the Video below he talks about his upcoming Lovecarft epic At the The Mountains of Madness…

Yeah, Yeah I know it’s way after Christmas and nobody gives two shits about the holidays-but the other day I discovered a neat little flick that I will definately remind everyone about next year-but while it’s fresh in my head I thought I’d mention it here. The film Cuento de Navidad entitled in English as A Christmas Tale (Not to be confused with Rare Exports) was a film included in the Spanish horror dvd set 6 Films to Keep You Awake. In a nutshell it’s a great little horror thriller that only clocks in at 71 minutes in length-but has alot going for it.
First of all it’s directed by Paco Plaza the man who’s responsible for the amazing REC & REC 2 in which the american movie Quarantine was based. Second it stars (more…)

Wow I am sooooo blown away by the news that I just heard I feel like I must be dreaming! It seems that a certain incredible creative team is getting ready to blow some life back into the Hulk again in a big way! Apparently Guillermo Del Toro and David Eick of Battlestar Galactica fame will teaming up to bring us a brand spankin’ new vision of the Hulk for our TV screens according to Deadline.
This is probably the BEST Hulk news yet as everyone knows Guillermo knows how to make a good comic book movie (Hellboy, Blade 2) and certainly knows how to bring a monster to life!! It seems that Del Toro will be directing and Deadline reported this little interesting bit of info that also makes me sing with glee to the jade giant: “Del Toro will also oversee the designing of the Hulk character, which is expected to draw on previous comic book incarnations, as well as the original 1978-82 Incredible Hulk TV series, with a few wild tweaks on the old look. Unlike the two Hulk movies, in which the monster was a pure CGI creation, the series will employ a mixture of prosthetics, puppetry and CGI.”
Finally!!! A realistic version of the Hulk to look forward to! (more…)

You remember that old Tv movie from the 70′s “Don’t be Afraid of the Dark”?? No? Well I do and it was pretty creepy-apparently Guillermo del Toro thought so too as he’s producing the upcoming….yeah…you guessed it…REMAKE!
Well I have to say I trust ol’ Guillermo with my movies as he’s pretty much never let me down. It seems from the preview too that this one is going to be worth checking out! (more…)

So I just watched Splice last night you all know the movie with Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley finally. I just wanted to take a moment to say that the movie wasn’t that good, it had some shitty ass as usual CG and it had a totally stupid plot twist of Adrien Brody getting it on with the lil’ Monster with the CG legs. I know this is old news but hey, but it WAS just released on dvd & I don’t make it to the theaters much lately as I am trying to save money (hint hint-when am I gonna get some free movie passes or something from doing this site?!).
I just wanted to say that the fact that Broder suddenly wants to fuck the little monster they have been raising was just pretty damn lame-I know, it’s supposed to be super edgy right-cuz it’s a monster and Broder is all hot stuff and is all real kinky cuz it’s a monster! Oh yeah though she’s kinda sexy right? It’s just sooooo damn edgy!!? They did have alot of hot on screen chemistry right-Broder and the monster? NO!!! blah blah blah….what a dumb movie. Sorry folks not much else I can say here-if you wanna get a real shock check out the Masters of Horror episode directed by Dario Argento called “Jenifer” and skip this turd!
