Here’s a great new pic just released today from the upcoming Hobbit movie due out next December 2012, it’s a simple picture of Martin Freeman as the Younger Bilbo Baggins and all I can really say is get me the HELL back to Middle Earth as soon a possible! It seems us ‘Rings’ fans are getting exactly what we want, with Peter Jackson completing the story and here seeing how perfect Freeman looks in the role of Bilbo…
In the meantime thought check out these live clips way back from 1990, for this live performance of the Hobbit done by The Children’s Theater Company of Minneapolis MN, Pretty damn bad ass!

So you all are aware of how much I like bad movies? You may be able to tell by my post yesterday how much I enjoy 80′s fantasy movies. So once again I stumble upon a trailer for a movie that I simply have GOT to see. It’s apparently from 1984, made in Indonesia and looks to be the shiniest turd of a film I have yet to lay my eyes upon! Check out the trailer for the most truly un-epic movie of the 80′s!
This movie seems to have it all folks! Terrible fight sequences, completely ridiculous looking special effects, laughably raunchy sex scenes, people who ride on flying rocks and who shoot lasers from their hands! It really doesn’t get any better or worse than this! Today I begin my own hunt for this craptastic gem cuzI feel a bad movie night coming on soon!

So I guess it could be said that the Pirates of the Carribean movies were somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me. Really I was pretty dang impressed with all three of them-least impressed with the third film. But hey I own them all on dvd. So now we finally get to see what the fourth film, which will be starting a new trilogy will be like. I must say it looks pretty damn fun. Alot of people too are complaining that Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley aren’t in this one-however that’s one of the BEST selling points for this new installment! I personally couldn’t care less about the two of them and am so glad that we don’t have to deal with their “tender love” once again in this next movie. This one look like it’s really about the pirates this time-and personally I can’t wait to get back on board…

Every now and then I come across a movie I am just flat out stoked about finding on dvd! Sometimes they’re even movies I’ve completely forgotten existed. Well one such recent score is the absolutley brilliant and yet somehow underated fantasy 80′s adventure “Return to Oz”. This is a classic and just a downright entertaining film with some amazing sets, visuals and plenty of creepy monsters to keep your eyes glued to the screen.
Perhaps that’s why many people have never seen this movie-as in 1985 it was listed on Siskel & Ebert’s “worst of” list and was described as being too intense and dark for children. How ever it did receive an academy award nomination for “best visual effects”.If you get a chance I highly recommend revisting this movie as it’s a real treat to anyone craving a good fantasy flick and if you haven’t ever seen this you need to check it out immediately! I’m pretty glad I now own this one on dvd…

Ever since I was a little kid I have had a fasination with Ny Form Trolls! No not the weird mongoloid looking ones with the neon hair, the bad ass ones from Norway! Ny Forms also have “real” hair as well but these ones look the way trolls were meant to. These amazing little sculptures hit the scene in 1964.
Here’s the history of how they came to be via the Trollshop.net:
“Somewhere in the middle of Norway, you will find a small and sparsely
populated mountain village called Tynset. It is located at the foot of a
five thousand feet high mountain (more…)

BODY TROOPERS, AKA: CHASING THE KIDNEYSTONE (Idsoe, 1996)
A decade after Joe Dante made INNER SPACE, a Norwegian woman made a movie about a boy and his grandpa’s kidney stone. What follows is a disturbing art film about bodily functions and fluids. Get ready for a swim! (WARNING: gross stuff ahead)
Simon lives with his grandpa, a widowed saxophonist, and they have a self-pitying stuffed bear that talks like a hot dog salesman. The night before grandpa’s jazz band reunion show (whom grandma sang for) he wakes up Simon with the kind of groaning that a football to the crotch or bad burrito will induce. Feeling helpless, the boy and the whiny bear bust out a chemistry set and shrink Simon to microbial size.
It all starts with grandpa’s mouth (specifically his giant lip and tongue). Simon steps over taste buds the size of basketballs, some of which talk. A lot. They even have telephones.
They are disturbed by the boy and want to know how he tastes. Bitter bud calls the Brain. (more…)

Well it’s good tohave some movies to look forward to that you’re turely pumped about! It seems that there hasn’t been much out there in the way of fantasy flicks to to get really excited about. Epecially since Clash of the Titans turned out to be such a disappointment and the recent news of Del Toro leaving The Hobbit high and dry has been a pretty big blow of disappointment. But fear not! There’s another movie I think fantasy fans should get pretty stoked on!
The Black Death is an upcoming supernatural thriller set during the times of the black plague as a band of warriors led by a monk quest a sorceror who’s rumored to be able to bring the dead back to life. (more…)

It has been quite a while since I have heard anything at all about the Dark Crystal 2, “The Power of the Dark Crystal” and I actually thought it wasn’t going to ever see the light of day. It seems however the Dark Crystal 2 is happening after all with some most interesting recent news and development on the highly anticipated yet feared sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter The Jim Henson Company is to partner with Australian production outfit Omnilab Media to make “Power of the Dark Crystal”. (more…)
