At the time the awesome Archangel made his return to Marvel comics i didn’t have a blog. So beleive me I would have posted this sometime ago and I really wanted to see if they were going to keep him around or if the whole idea was a just part of a short story arc. Well it appears that he is back for real in the pages of the awesome revamped Marvel title X-Force (athough it seems none of the other X-titles acknowledge his return as this character yet).

This week we take a look at one of the most fun comics ever created: Marvel Two-In-One. These usually featured the Thing teaming up with someone he didn’t often get to within the Fantastic Four’s monthly title. In this amazing issue, you not only get a bed-ridden Benjamin Grimm, but pretty much every single hero and villain residing in the marvel universe.

Yes, Ol’ Blue Eyes says his signature “Whatta revoltin’ development” and “Idol a’Millions” lines, but the following tidbits are the real reasons every Marvel fan needs to own this issue:

A friend and I were talking about current comic books and one of our main problems with them as of lately has been the artwork. Some of these “hot new” artists just don’t seem to be cuttin’ it these days! It seems like everyone’s drawing their comic books while watching Dragon Ball and Pokemon marathons. Don’t get me wrong there are some fantastic new artists out there but it got us to thinking….

If anyone knows how to draw the Punisher right it’s Mike Zeck… (more…)

One of the all-time greatest comics written was written by John Byrne. Although now, Byrne is a crotchety guy who probably doesn’t think much about this issue, but The Thing #3 is one of the most moving and important comics of it’s time. Any Fantastic Four or Inhumans fan is probably a little in-love with the dog-like character Lockjaw, whose powers allow him to teleport himself and others to great distances. In issue #3 of The Thing, Byrne shocked fans by having Lockjaw speak for the first time, in a very poignant way by addressing Quicksilver’s predjudices. This was a truly moving issue, check out the scene here:

So Nomad, Captain America’s trusty sidekick from the 80′s, sure got involved fighting some losers in his time! Before he went up against The Slug who i profiled earlier he faced this Douche Bag named “MADCAP” in Captain America #307 and then again in issue #309. I am not sure if Madcap was supposed to be Marvel’s version of the Joker or what but what i do know is this idiot needed to get his ass kicked to the moon in a very bad way! This guys had probably the lamest costume of the 80′s and carried around a squirt gun that shot out bubbles that would make you go “mad”.

Hey there! so here’s another installment of “The World’s Lamest Villains”. Today i am showcasing a villain from The Thing #7 from 1984. First off i would like to say when when The Thing finally got his own solo title in 1983 i almost pee’d my lil’ pants! He was by far one of my favorite characters as a kid and still is today which makes this installment a cool little trip down memory lane. I remember getting getting this comic at a drugstore in Oshkosh Wisconsin back then. But anyway enough about me let’s get on with the one they call GOODY TWO-SHOES!!

Two of things I love most in life are comic books and Prince. Amazingly, Revolutionary Comics Co. had the foresight to devote an issue to the greatest tiny man of all time: Prince Rogers Nelson! Check out the front and back covers

Today was a day unlike any other.
For the last year or so, I have been determined to collect and read the entire West Coast Avengers run. Well, a stop at the Goodwill yielded about 30% of it.
That’s right, I found issues #7-45 (save the issues that I already had, like John Byrne’s Vision Quest Arc) along with a dozen other gems such as the complete run of 1986-87′s Comet Man, Some Black Widow goodness courtesy of Marvel Fanfare, some X-Tinction Agenda issues as well as a couple of Typhoid Mary’s early Daredevil appearances!!
This store (off McLaughlin just outside of Portland), had 3 long boxes full of 1980′s goodness. Many interesting DC titles (that confuse me but are probably great reads) and even a copy of The Dark Night Returns.
At .49 a copy, I felt like I was robbing them, I’ve had a smile on my face all day since!

So i would like to dedicate part of this blog to some of the worst, most god-awful, lamest, loser villains in comic book history! When you think Captain America you think of the Red Skull, Baron Zemo or maybe even Baron Blood right? WRONG. Enter “The Slug!”. This loser first appeared in Captain America #324 and then fully in #325.

Ulysses X. Lugman the crimelord / drug trafficker / ladie’s man from Miami weighs over a thousand pounds and can’t walk! (more…)
